Just curious as to when clubs hold their AGM

Do all clubs have a minimum number of members required to be present at the meeting? if so what does each club do to encourage members to show up????

what does your constitution say that generally states the minimum number. we had low numbers this year about 25.

nothing... thats why its stalled :-\

Be hard to start a new club if nothing has been done. Hard enough getting people to do anything let alone nothing. I was at a club where two blokes did pretty much everything, captain, president, secretary, treasurer, coaches. Even served the booze... they didn't last long, they got jacked off within 3 years. The club has now merged with another club that has 3-4 people doing everything.

I'm sure there is more to running a club than everyone realises, me included. I'll do my share but if noone else feels they need to do theirs, I'm not gonna take their loads as well. I take my hat off to those who run clubs... I'm sure its harder than it was 20-30 years ago.

My advise: dont start a new club, join an established club that is well run and play your part. And I don't mean pay your rego fees, play well and buy beer from the bar... but do the small things.

Definitely right there Skywalker, it is extremely hard to run a club with a couple of people, fortunately we have a full committee including Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer with nine committee members all sharing the load. That is why we are a successful club off the field along with on the field. Unless you have at least 5-6 people on board and willing to put hard yards in, starting or even running a club becomes an exhaustive excercise, and not one that i would ever want to take on.

not currently at any club so no constitution to refer to ;)

have heard of clubs having the AGM at presentation night to help with numbers... also know a club that had to re-schedule this years AGM as they didnt get the minimum numbers required by their constitution. Hence the reason I was asking.

everyone was keen to help out when the idea was fresh... 6-8 weeks on and everyone is stuck in 'soccer' mode so the cricket side has taken a back seat. Maybe aim for the 2011-2012 season so everything is done properly rather than 1 or 2 people rushing around doing everything and probably missing things
