good team.. the problem has been only 2 or 3 of the "super c's" train all the b grade train
which makes it hard for them because yes 70% arent b grade but the c grade have played 1 out of 4
so we have to reward the people training and most dont really complain there enjoying just being out there
even while losing :s

though the core group have moved up which isnt rewarding the people that made the effort to
come to our one training a week i feel sorry for some of them with the c's not playing again..

Good luck to every team this week
and hope mr 10 fa plays well for us :P

Hang on a second. Are you suggesting that the C grade squad has been prodominately the same for the last 5 years because most cant train?? How does this explain half the A Grade not training last year and still playing A grade? I know why.. Because they are A graders!!!! Wake up half the C grade can play A or B grade. They have some real talent down there but they choose not to. They put there own personal glory before the club they love so much.

Whilst I did not play for the Redbacks on the weekend the team I play for didn't lose their first three batsmen without scoring. How Fitzroy were allowed to stay in Div 3 after their pathetic efforts last summer is beyond me.

When did I say this? I am purely making a statement and based on Fitzroy's B grade performances in the last season and a bit I think I am on the ball. There has been no sign of improvement at all and I guess perhaps Div 4 may have been a better option for this season. Nothing sinister Michael, surely you can see where I am coming from.

The B grade has been predominantly made up from younger players this season, with some experienced players in there too. There will be improvement soon. Just wait and see.

PS. Im pretty sure Fitzroy B Grade was the only team to stay in Div 3 from last year. All other teams moved grades.

When we get a full strength A grade we can start to filter back players to B grade. Anyway going down a grade to win easier premierships isnt for our club.

Was not talking about winning easy flags more about actually being competitive and winning a game along the way. Surely that is in the clubs and its players best interests.

i agree with outsideedge, nothing personal against your club and nothing to do with winning easy flags, but if you continue o play above what your capable of then you wil continue to get pumped and in turn put people off the game and may find players leaving? No one like to turn up week in week out and cop a flogging, wheres the enjoyment in that?

I kept wicket for 50 overs, went out to bat, & simply whipped a ball off my legs to a bloke behind square who wasn't even looking.... I was furious, & cursed my bad luck the whole way off. I believe the other 2 blokes copped some decent deliveries- wasn't like they went out slapping & skied their catches.
You might argue that the scorebook says your out, but I have more respect for blokes who genuinely get out to a good ball, rather than getting themselves out...

We are an inexperienced side, & we do have some kids in it- we make the best of what we have available, what more can you ask for?
I had respect for the bloke who batted 3 & 4 on saturday for Brooklyn Park, as they played genuine shote- the other blokes where just slapping everything whether it was on the stumps or not.
you won't here us whingeing, but you forced us into defending ourselves.

One thing's for sure- don't under estimate the fighting spirit of the Fitzroy Lions.
When we win one, we'll have earnt it, we'll appreciate it, & we'll certainly be tougher for taking the hard road.

we played fitzroy's A grade on the weekend and at 1 stage they were something like 0/55 and iwas thinking my god were in for a long day but once we got lochiel and gig's there was'nt 1 other batsmen that looked like making a big score i had to leave early for my mr's 21st but i'v heard a couple of there bowlers go alright bourke and smith i think for the record we bowled fitzroy out for 154 were 2/38 with our 2 blokes who were ment to bat at 9 and 11 on 20odd notout and 3notout so hopfully we should chase it down but you should never count chickens so i wont be!

also seen the wierdest thing ever in cricket fitzroys number 4 or 5 batsmen walked for an LBW we went up for an LBW that looked deadset plum to me the umpire gave it not out and the batsmen walked our keeper said to him " mate your not out he didnt give you out" and he just keeped walking i was gob smacked to be honest that is sportsmenship at its best i must say there is no way in the world i would walk at all for the simple reason i'v been given out so many times when i wasnt out so there is no way i'm going to turn into a gilly! but welll done to the bloke

And if you think weve only got 2 geniune batters in our side your dead wrong. Last year we had the top three batters in the association and they all played on the weekend. Our top 5 is as strong as any in the Div 1 and we still have a couple to come back in the new year. I agree that our tail is long at the moment but well be thereabouts come March
