Sturt at Sturt is a big ask but would be great to see a new team in a grand final. Have they made a GF before?

Don't think they have.

Whilst Bice is better there is still room for improvement. Thirds and Fourths still need some work to do, but success at First Grade may entice some to stick around

A new venue for their 3rd/4th grade would be nice!

And juniors too.

Interesting that 3 of the bottom 4 in the club championship are the ones being talked about merging etc.

Yes, so true. Has been a very tough year. Can't remember the last time we have not had a team in the finals, and most years top 3 in Club Champs. The whole process has just taken its toll, been very hard for the players to get pumped up, especially when it could be the last time you play with your mates you have grown up playing with. Understandable the success was not there due to this pressure.

Obviously Woodville and Port were similar, with no teams in finals either. Seasons went downhill once the three teams were named by SACA!

Im sure it would have been difficult at those 3 clubs all year to keep players focused with this hanging over their heads. Players not knowing if this is their last season, last training night, or last game. Off field resources I am sure would also have been stretched to breaking point at those 3 clubs, as they focused all their energies on the presentations to the SACA and just keeping their clubs going into next season. Hardly a good environment to play cricket, I wouldn't have thought for any of those 3 clubs. Blame the cretins at the SACA for letting the name of the 3 clubs out mid season.

When was the last time Prospect, Adelaide and University made A Grade finals? Records don't go that far back in MyCricket.

WOW. Unless you were involved in a SACA club you wouldn't have a clue until you see these tables.

When you see these tables, you see how average Prospect especially and also Adelaide, University and East Torrens have been for a long time.
Even Glenelg have been average for a while, when you see these stats which surprises. Port and Woodville have been average but only on a par
with some clubs who aren't in the gun. A good 6 or 7 clubs have been going rough in grade cricket for a while when you look at these stats.

It even more has me puzzled why West Torrens are in the gun, when you see these tables. It's impossible to work out why WT are even mentioned.

You can make a case to get rid of many clubs, but for the life of me I can't work out how West Torrens are even mentioned in dispatches.

Oh wait...............West Beach isn't happening
I forgot.

Interesting to see that Woodville and West Torrens have the equal second best record over the past 13 years for making finals. They have also both won premierships in this time and played in multiple grand finals in the past 10 years.
Re not producing State players: Kelly, George, Kelvin Smith and James Smith have all played in the past 5 years, with three of them having played shield cricket in the past two years. It was only a few years ago that West Torrens consistently had 3 players in the SA team. Additionally, it is not that long ago that we had five players all in the state team at the same time.

Cheers

How SACA came to target the 3 western suburbs clubs when Uni and Prospect in particular have been rubbish for so long beats me.

To add to that table above in that time frame:
Woodville 3 Premierships, 1 Club Champ
Kensington 2 Premierships, 0 Club Champ
Sturt 2 Premierships, 2 Club Champ
Tea Tree Gully 1 Premiership, 5 Club Champ
West Torrens 1 Premiership, 4 Club Champ
Glenelg 1 Premiership, 1 Club Champ
Adelaide 1 Premiership
Northerns 1 Premiership
Port 1 Premiership
East Torrens, 1 Club Champ
Southern Dist nil
University nil
Prospect nil

Junior premierships during same period (U17, U16R, U16W, U14R, U14W, RSS)
West Torrens 19
Kensington 12
East Torrens 11
Southern Districts 11
Sturt 10
Tea Tree Gully 7
Adelaide 6
Northern Districts 5
Glenelg 3
Prospect 2
Port Adelaide 1
Woodville 1

Interesting stats. A break down of Shield players produced/games played would also be interesting.

Fair bit of rain in the last 8 hours! Hope clubs had the full square covers on...

Can't be 100% on this as it is not from the SACA web site since they removed the info at the start of this year

Jack Smith also played for West Torrens. Don't think he played for the Redbacks whilst there though....

Nick Benton and Carl Tietjens from Woodville all so.

You can also add Kelvin Smith to the list from West Torrens - making a mockery of the Eagles not producing State players (highest representation of all).

Heater, I think we are looking at different Jack Smith's - the one listed was a keeper. Our Jack Smith was recruited from Canberra.

Cheers

Seems that report was made last year to highlight what players have debuted in the last 15 years. Lehmann, Blewett and the like were all well before that
