I think that the main reason Aldinga and Mclaren left the sca was because of the bad behaviour and excessive sledging that came when playing certain teams. Was a huge issue!

I don't play A Grade so can only talk from a lower grade perspective but you guys have Noarlunga and Seaford with Morphett Vale close behind.

From what I hear Noarlunga may keep the Tribunal busy in lower grades.

I would think Simon Binns is the only Aldinga player going around still who would be old enough to remember the politics of that era clearly from an Aldinga perspective. I played for the Sharks in both comps as did B Garrard and S Parkinson but we were all in our late teens and not really involved in the committee stuff at that stage. Aldinga played it as hard as anyone else back then, dont worry about that 8)

HELLO EVERYONE!!!!! Long time listener, first time caller....Ok so some great debate over the last few weeks and thought i,d have my say on both Meyer shield and Noarlunga issues!!!
Disappointed for the boy’s in the Meyer Shield thought we had a good team and should have done better!! Think we just were a bit tardy with our approach on the first day, when it really counts!! Really have to get there early as a TEAM and give ya self,s a chance to jell a bit.. once again as a TEAM!!!! It really is a tough gig getting that part right, getting guys to play for each other at short notice!!! I know the team finished 3rd and has done so a couple of times in the past 3-4 yrs but its about beating the top team’s Hill’s, Torrens Valley etc not getting good stats and beating up on a struggling K.I. or Invitation team, let’s be honest about it!!!! Waz lucky when i played to play with at least 6 guys that played together over a 6-8 year period giving us a core to the TEAM not 2 or 3 teams in the squad!! We also for right or wrong, always got on the gas together win or lose on the Saturday night and they really helped us get to know each other and play for each other on the field !!! Spoke to the Uncle CHOP CHOP about getting involved again myself next year and will put my hand up at the AGM later in the year, see if I’m wanted or not!!??

Or maybe i should just shut up!!!!! ;)

Noarlunga are a great club and well having the Scarf brothers in the Meyer shield can’t be a bad thing!!!!!!!! But just like late Saturday night your ALL in or all out...!!! The juniors would have to come in as well, wouldn’t they?? Surely??!! I think that the JUNIORS and the A grade would be fine....BUT there would be issues in the other grades eg B grade and C grade to much of a culture difference!!!! We are lucky to have a great league at the moment and would we ever see Yank or Rapid Bay make the effort to get back into the A grade again??? Or with Noarlunga in would that put them totally off?? The dream for the Great Southern is to have a 10 team comp with those teams in, maybe a big call but that’s the Great Southern with them in there isn’t it??? Finally from a Southern point of view losing a club like Noarlunga would that be the final straw for that league?? Isn’t it worth from a Noarlunga point of view fighting for your own league instead of taking the easy way out and running away!!!!??? Great Southern waz a 6-7 team comp for awhile and we worked our way back!!! What happens to Port Noarlunga, Seaford, Flagstaff Hill, Morphett Vale etc?? If the Southern league dies, what happens in the Meyer shield?? Or is it ok for the Southern to just die slowly????

Ok clearly that’s enough from me , STAY SOLID FOLKS!!!!! ;)

Hi Tony some good points,on the easy way out? that is far from the truth with the executive of the NCC working its butt off for the past number of years to keep a once great comp alive.

Since Reynellas move and now Cove's on top of Aldinga,HValley and Mclaren in the past it has been difficult to keep the motivation at the A grade level. This makes options for what is best for NCC and with the geographical situation the GSCA is a good fit.

I for one look forward to going back to Shark park where I have great memories and great friendships which I still have after being one that was involved in bringing back the ACC and coaching juniors as well as President of the club.

Agree a very sad day for the SCA

At this stage I think the SCA would still like to keep the junior comp so not sure what will happen there.

grand finals

Postby lance mackey » Fri Feb 25, 2011 4:49 pm

Anyhow, enough of other associations!!! this weeks games!!!! Massive games for Compass and Aldinga to decide the finals race for 2010/11. Willunga need to get back from a crushing defeat, Mclarens and Goolwa can ruin either Compass or Aldinga's seasons and chances of making the big game at Pt Elliot!! My money is on Compass to put Goolwa back in its place, let the Aldinga fairy tail stay at the bottm of the hill!!!  Final four- Willunga, E/Bay, Mclarens and Compass!! Gonna make an interesting finals campain!! Compass v E/Bay G/F??? anyone else game for a prediction??

Toss up between, Encounters, Willunga and the Vale
Compass and Dingy are dangerous on their day but way too inconsistent

vale wont win it, S T RUGGLE in the bowling department, same as compass do. only thing is compass can actually bat. bays compass GF for mine. bays to win it. if they can make 150+ in finals games they will be hard to beat. that butler bloke can serioulsy bowl. moules bowls good heat and overall just keeps taking wickets. the best all round line up in the comp. stupid to back against them! but good luck to the others. wish i was playing in a couple of weeks.

Very Interesting call there JONAS BROTHERS on McLarens STRUGGLING bowling line up, if you look at the stats in the past 5 rounds only 1 team has made over 160 against them! On the Finals series however i believe anyteam could win it, all the teams who look like participating in the finals have the ability to be very good on their day!
The Bays are strong all round jst have to put it together on the day, Mt Compass have a talented batting line up but have struggled with consistency and their bowling throughout the season, McLaren also have the ability with a few class acts, will just matter if the middle class players in their side can step up, and Willunga cannot be treated without seriousness they have been the best team all season and finished clearly on top, doubt them at ur peril!!
Goodluck to the players involved in the finals series!
