Congratulations are in order to Barclay Matthews on scoring 5000 career runs, and Damian Murphy on 200 career games! 2 top blokes who are cornerstones of this fine club.

If it wasn't for players like Matthews, Murphy, McCard (who I neglected to mention became the first Ingle Farm player to capture 400 wickets) and Thurbon et al, the tradition of this club would not be as rich as it is.

You've got to give respect to all those who came before you, as I will to the next batch of up-and-coming players.

I believe congratulations are in order for Ben Smith, who smashed his maiden ton for Ingle Farm in the Under 15 Gold division against Modbury Brown.

His 2nd innings hundred came off 69 balls in 102 minutes, and follows up from his 1st innings 40. Modbury acted like gents for allowing the game to roll on for a couple of extra overs so he could reach his ton. A top effort, especially as we ended up on 5 for 140 at stumps after 24 overs.

It's amazing how, prior to the start of the match, his previous high score was 29. To better it twice in one match is a top effort.

WELL DONE SMITTY!!!!!

Ingle Farm is my junior footy club. I played there till I was 16, then stopped. My dad was head trainer at Norwood Districts and I left Ingle Farm only to return as junior coach in 06. It wasn't a successful venture, but off field, they're streets ahead of the club I coached in 07.

Off field isn't the problem I don't believe. Location is, for various reasons. And there is a stigma attached to Ingle Farm as well, however it's the most accommodating club I've been involved in.
