Still playing both footy and cricket at 40.......he's going to hate me for posting his age

I thought he was about that age, judging by the way he ran between the wickets in last years GF !!!! ;)

I thought he only hit fours and sixes these days.

Be careful, I have friends at HV now and so can identify you - you could regret that comment. Skull might just send you down a mean googly this season.................

He played C's against you blokes on the Friday night this year

Someone alerted Skull to this discussion and he wrote to tell me that he had no involvement in Elliott's signing.

Matthew Elliott merely wanted to play in the same club as the great man and so Skull had never met him

He also commented that you obviously watched the GF last year to be so spot on with your observtions..........

I'm surprised the groundsman didn't try to take him out for endangering the pitch

Had to get his "googly" to turn somehow, if the spin didnt get ya it was the sharp deviation off of his foot indentations ;)

What are the thoughts on the new heat policy? I think it is ridiculous myself. I don't understand why the cut off temperature has been raised and even scrapped come the second week of a game after some of the problems there have been in hot weather games in recent seasons. If we are going to play in that weather we need more than extra drinks breaks, maybe an extra tea break or something where players can actually relax and let their bodies cool down a bit, otherwise there will most likely be more players have problems playing in the heat.

so if you play the first week and turns out to be 44 the next, we still play?
42 is a joke anyway.. whtats the point in even having a policy, more games will be played when it is 40 and 41 than 42+..
pretty sure a few clubs put in 40.. who put in 42?? or was it a comittee making there own decisions??

No, if the temp is 42+ then all grades are abandoned. This includes second week. Heat Policy is activated if forecast temp is 39 - 41. Policy is developed by ATCA and they take advice from clubs. It is up to the clubs to nominate a cut off point for play being abandoned. Some clubs put in 40, but ATCA have gone with 42, so I can only assume more clubs wanted 42 as the cut off point.

He made 12 batting at 8 & took 1/11 off 7. I didn't see him as I was playing in our seconds but from what I've seen in the nets he looks a handy player.
