Agree with you guys.

At the least Stirling down.

Ideally, Mylor go up and Happy Valley go somewhere else (until they can get a pitch that is playable).

This would leave and 8 team comp for A and if they can see if another B grade team want to go to C's they can then get an 8 team B grade (maybe a baskets perhaps)

This would be the ideal in my opinion, but unlikely as the association has clearly shown that they are not willing or able to force the hand of their clubs.

Anyone in HCA aware of any big ins?
On a similar note - I was chatting to a mate from the gators and he's well aware that there's more money creeping into the game for coaches (in some instances) and the $/run, $/wicket deals. Any of your clubs into this?

Apparently Happy Valley are dropping down to B grade.

8 team A grade, some one, some 2 dayers.

B grade, all 2 dayers.

Best news I heard for a while. not a bad bunch of blokes and try hard but their pitch is shite and it evens the comp up for more one day and two day cricket in the A's.

Certainly none of this happenng in TVCA I would have thought. Much more of a 'low key' comp than HCA it seems. I'd hate to see money creep into the league.

Cheers, Saintal. I think it's common knowledge though that Stirling forked out a bit for Cupido (who earned it with runs etc) but without a pretty big sponsor, I don't know how clubs do it.
BTW - you're all no doubt affiliated with a club already but the gators are up & about training (some indoor sessions) if anyone's looking for a club. Gotta put it out there when you're trying to fill 4 grades!

Gators are shaping up well. Looking at focusing on the kids a bit more of a go so will see guys like clements and pistola get more of an extended run i think.

but have been getting around about 15 gus out to trainings whcih is good since a few guys are still playing footy at the moment.

What I've heard...Kersbook may struggle to field a side. Lobethal looks as though they may lose 1 or 2 of last year's team (my heart bleeds for them.. 8) ). Woodside appear strong with Johns and Wescombe back. Mt Torrens active in chasing players.

We were supposed to be kicking off our preseason tomorrow arvo

Have heard this too, Kersbrook won't have any senior teams. A Grade to be 6 teams with Kersbrook out and Mt Torrens in from last year. Wasn't it only the season before last that Kersbrook made the GF and the couple before that too?

9 A2 grade teams, 10 in B-grade.

Yeah, Kersbrook were A Grade grand finalists last summer despite having an unsettled year, plus 3 or 4 other GF appearences in recent years. Wasn’t that long ago they had a dominant A2s team also.

Other issues that arose at the meeting:

- Mt Pleasant/Springton appears to have finally suffered a slow death, and will not supply a team.
- Push for more one dayers in the A2s. Don’t agree.
- The 20/20 round will be kept for A2 and B grade only. Agree with this.
- Shortage of umps.
- A few clubs feeling the pinch with playing numbers. (we’re really struggling atm, not good when coming off a wooden spoon)

Kersbrook played in 6 of the last 8 GF's but have died a slow death like Mt.Pleasant/Springton. With more TVCA clubs struggling a merger with the HCA is imminent.

With Kersbrook gone, Lobethal will look to challenge itself in the HCA and might be the first club to jump ship.

does anyone know if Happy Valley main oval has still got that soft grippy pitch?

If so, I think I will be away if we play them on their main oval.

I am shocked that more has not been made of it by the cricketers from Happy Valley itself. That stuff is dangerous to bat on. All you need is a ball to prop up, hit someone in the arm and break it - probable grounds for a good case against the council on the safety of the facilities.

All someone needs to do is threaten to sue and the council will remove that stuff quick smart. (also it would have to be more costly to lay it than just have a concrete pitch for matting)

I play for fun, and it aint fun playing on that shite. So I think I will be somewhere else if we are drawn to play on that oval.

The other option is for teams to start forfeiting their games at that oval and then something will be done about it.

Am I being harsh? Soft? All of the above? I am sure I am not the only one who thinks that playing on that pitch is crap!

The pitch is still there, 2 weeks ago I was at the oval and went for a walk out there, they dont even cover it during footy season. Most ovals in the Onka council have the same pitch.

Ive only played on it twice and both times if the ball is bowled short it loses all pace and just sits up for the back foot players to hit it wherever they want. Therefore I doubt it will hurt anyone. If anything it teaches the kids not to bowl short.

Some may remember the old stick down pitch at Bridgey years ago, now that was dangerous, no idea it the ball was going to bounce ankle high or head high.
