Westies would get bored winning the Grade 1 premiership, you can't blame them for a chance to score a double ton or a total in the history books.

Yeah we are in a position where we are forced to 'unseriousness' the game whilst trying to not lose the comps integrity with mickey mouse rules and this is one way that works well for us.

We all know that everyone should get a go but when points are the line its often teams throw the ball around or change the batting line up even in the c grades and d grades.

The down side for me as an old boy is often games might fizzle out and go fairly deep when they could of been done with pretty early on. Especially once you start giving the teams worst bowler a crack against their number 9,10,11. Its good to watch though as the skill isnt there but my good the bloke wants a wicket and the batter play for their lives

I thought it was a bit strange that ATCO were so eager to play on Saturday despite the radar stating the bleeding obvious. In hindsight it was probably a smart move as all other games each team gets 3 points for the NR/draw, ATCO take 4.17 from Saturday and Eyre take 3.60, could be handy at the end of the season. Of course it just happened to piss down as soon as I pulled up.

Royals didn't think it was worth starting, ATCO wanted to play.

ATCO called it when they thought it was too crap, Royals wanted to continue.

That was my understanding.

At the end of the day, play stopped around about when it should've, there were lakes everywhere within half an hour of it setting in.

Might go close this year with the washed-out games plus throw in a heated-out game or two in Jan/Feb.

Yep i am the same up here............

Weather forecast is crap again this Saturday up here.....i really don't want to make myself available and 'waste' the day playing the whole sit around and wait and see.

Luckily we have a rule because of the distance between teams that if the pitch is unplayable at 11am both teams can agree to call it off, so you don't go wasting your time travelling. But it's still frustrating having to wait until then. We did that on the weekend. Melrose 1.5 hours from Spalding. They just facetimed our captain at 11am, showed him how much water they were brushing of the pitch, and they all agreed to call it then, so we didn't travel. However, we have a rule that if 2 of the 4 games are called of due to weather all games are off, so the risk of calling off and 'losing' points against the other clubs isnt as risky.

I'm not sure what the answer is but not many like wasting their day these days....thinking leagues might have to start thinking outside of the square as to how those situations can be avoided where possible.
