maybe the "letter" wasn't very accurate info. I was also told that it's basically a 6-4 against if it was voted on today for the shoes gaining entry. Would that be about right?

i got a phone call thursday to let me know that Noarlunga and Port Noarlunga have applied to join GSCA for season 2011/12.
will be interesting to see what the member clubs decide

Aldinga vote Sunday 8 may 11:00am @ oval for any aldinga ppl who may not know

i hope when ppl cast their vote they think not only of how noarlunga and port noarlunga joining our comp will effect them personally but also how it will effect the competition. Weigh up the pro's and con's and make calculated decision.

it's a yes for me!

Well said Sledge/Wasted Talent/Christopher Robin!

My mail is that it won't get up. A shame really as 'the more the merrier'.

Yes, our league is strong numbers wise at the moment, but things can change. When you consider out of 11 clubs, Rapid Bay, Yank & Victor don't have A grades, Myponga (despite the great efforts of Tommo & Co.) are a year by year consideration, Goolwa are allegedly struggling both on & off the field .... it leaves only 6 'strong' clubs in the league. Yet the rumour is we are going to reject another strong club entering the league on the basis that they might sledge a bit, not drink enough piss, and force us to drive an extra 10-15 minutes once or twice a season! Seems a bit short sighted and narrow-minded to me, especially as it seems to be based on perceptions rather than known facts. As CR10 says, hopefully the clubs will make a 'calculated decision'.

I guess we'll find out Monday night!

I personally hope it gets up, would bring a new element of playing some different guys into the league as well.
Plus if they dont I heard southern will soon fold, which is a shame and these lads may not be playing cricket on saturday because of it.

I must say that I have not been involved with a GSCA club for the past season so am unaware of any single clubs stance but I believe this is a real shame, and strongly believe that the GSCA has made the wrong decision. If two strong clubs wanted to join the league then I believe it would have only strengthened the association in the long run. By branching out that little bit further to Noarlunga and Pt Noarlunga it would have given the Great Southern area a lot more publicity, for lack of a better word. These extra players would have strengthen juniors and seniors, and provided a great challenge for the existing clubs to lift on field performances. I would much prefer to play in a league that offers a great contest week in week out, and I think Noarlunga and Pt Noarlunga would have provided this. Like I said I am unaware of the in's and out's of it all, but can't understand why this wouldn't have been a great thing for the GSCA.

Can anyone shed any light on why they were rejected?
