Pretty amazing turnaround for Southern Districts this season. Outrighted three times in a row before Christmas. Looked like they were falling apart. Won quite a few games in the back half. Went within a whisker of knocking off Glenelg then did beat TTG in last two games.

Finals tips:

TTG vs Glenelg
Can TTG get 10 wickets? Their batting is excellent and runs deep (and will add Head should they make GF) but they lack penetration on flat decks. Of course they are good enough to bat Glenelg out of the game if given the chance so it may not matter. Is Jake Winter fit? Saw he missed on the weekend. Does he have glandular fever? Would be a big loss. Clarke one of the finds of the season and Fox starting to take regular wickets. Bowering another up and coming leggie - a few of them around all of a sudden!

Perhaps the swansong for a few TTG folk? And possibly a Glenelg player or two. Big stakes. Think TTG will get the win with Page tonning up.

Sturt vs University
Uni aren't the same side they were before Christmas. Think they'll get smoked here. Too many good players have gone home. Sturt a nice balance of batters, quicks and spinners. Will senior guys Kulezsa and Claring-Bould get a run? Have played some Bs this season.

Sturt by a mile.

Indeed! Must have been an outright result in the C Grade.

What does TTG have against MyCricket by the way? Seems to be a club-wide protest against using it!

A grade use it, the rest of the scorers dont.

Because I'm bored at work... some stats!

Have clubs figured out that it's best to get maximum points into the game this season? The number of outright results overall went through the roof.

Cs and Ds remained steady (and tend to occur when average teams get creamed in those grades) but in one season A Grade went from 7 outright wins up to 10 and Bs from 3 outright wins to 14!

Is that just a mindset change with captains being more attacking, more likely to declare and get started on taking 10 wickets? Are the decks juicier? Is the standard of batting below the standard of bowling generally?

Or has the change of rule in A and B Grade (must take 10 wickets) made teams more aggressive in terms of selection & tactics - focusing on wicket taking rather than ring fields, medium pacers etc? Are teams batting more aggressively to give themselves time to bowl the opposition out?

Club Championship winner Sturt's percentage share of the total points rose by 4.81% this season. Went from 6.95% in 2016-17 to 11.96% this season. By this I mean if you add up all the points gathered by every club in every grade then Sturt had 11.96% of the total points this season.

This table is the differential from 2016-17 to 2017/18 for all clubs:

Most improved
Sturt 4.81%
ND 1.87%
Adel 1.85%
Wdv 1.70%
TTG 1.36%
SD 0.40%
Glenelg -0.43%
Kens -0.51%
Uni -0.68%
Port -2.19%
ET -2.25%
Pros -2.54%
WT -3.39%

Obviously some clubs are coming from a higher/lower base so these figures need to be taken with that in mind. Also there may be a few ladders not yet updated. But hopefully interesting nonetheless.

Not sure you can read much into that really. That would mean that Nortgern’s are projecting better than West Torrens?

No it doesn't

The various ladders and club championship are there to see how the teams and clubs are faring.

This just measures change from the previous season.

Great stats from one year to another. Sturt improvement over double the next best. Backing up bulls forever comment re Sturt coach, this % of improvement has to reflect somewhat new coach??

Love Glenelg getting in for last round. Tom plant will be the crucial player to Bays finals, Winter has been poor, illness??. Bullimore has been known to be a big game player and youngy Hoffy doesn’t mind playing above himself, can get a flag if past TTG. Will Botha play?? CAREY back for GF.

All pressure on TTG it seems, Glenelg might be calling stingrays for a couple tips, as southerners have the wood on TTG

TC, A and B Grade were updated regularly on weekend, C grade was at Southern, D grade result was up pretty early Sunday night. I think there are other clubs that you could "out" before TTG, I know who but not naming them.

Congrats to Matthew Weeks on playing in his 200th game on the weekend and scoring a ton in it!
A gun cricketer and equally as good bloke!

Still no Jake Winter for Glenelg. Their batting is a bit thin without him.

He hasn’t given much all year anyway... We (us tigers) are at our best when backs against the wall.

Beat TTG in a one day final over last couple years, so our boys confident.

Will be interesting to see if weather has an impact this weekend, most grounds should have covers, except juniors.

Think every side plays there best when backs against the wall to TF11 :o

Fair few players and clubs in the Comp that don’t enjoy being down and out Hound. When we are lead by Tom Plant, probably up there with best teams who play best as underdog...

Uni 8/167 vs Sturt. Reckon only a couple of their players would have got a game when they were at full strength.

TC, you taking over from E14 bagging TTG are you.

SD, agree with your comment, no excuses only the truth. Several people in club have admin access with no over riding power. Our JC pressed a button this morning and jammed our system, which was not unjammed till 4. Even SACA couldn't override the issue. Human error, we all make them apparently, don't we TC.

Heater31, I'm after a reason for the presentation of Glandore on the weekend, showed complete lack of respect from your club to your C Grade, probably got what you deserved in the end, not the players, they deserved better.

The writing has been on the wall for a few years now.... everything is left to too few. Hearing rumours of a few lining up for the exit door, sick of how some people conduct themselves on and off the field.
