Barossa & Light CA 2011/12

Local cricket is the go here. Any talk about local comps, grade cricket, etc.

Considering he hit it 60m straight up he was prepared to walk on this occassion.....
I wouldn't think there will be too much angst next time the teams meet, this one has been blown out of proportion anyway.
Like I said though I did miss the after match chat whilst I dutifully collected the boundary cones,
didn't realise anything was said until the WAGS asked what it was all about later on.
When the actual wicket in question fell Jobby displayed some excitement, Fracka displayed some non excitement,
they briefly discussed why they were or weren't excited and the next ball was bowled.
Will collect my Herald from the driveway with reasonable exuberance on Wednesday to see what spin Media Mike puts on it.

All gone pretty quiet on the forum after a busy start to the week.

3 of the 4 games on turf this week, will any games get under way as I have heard that big rains are coming in tonight.

South v Central only game on hard wicket. What I saw of centrals they should win this quite easily.

did anyone get some play in today?
meanwhile, if I didn't make friends with my pitch report today then I don't know what to do.
shout out to Tanundas curator who must've been watching an all night star trek marathon
And was unable to drag himself away to put the covers on.
To his credit he had surrounded the pitch area with poles and little orange flags,
If only he had put up the sign 'don't rain here'.....

  if only those orange flags wouldve done there job and kept the rain out of that area. The 5 tanunda blokes that were there seemed devastated.

Yep it certainly was a draw Days...

It was a good game of cricket until it rained. Actually it was still a good game for about 10 overs after the rain came as Slip Gerhardy seems to have invented a BLCA by-law that permits us to play cricket in puddles...

He also forgot the law that says you cant be out LBW if you hit the ball but thats another story...

Not sure how South were robbed in this one? we needed 100 from the last 20 with wickets in the shed and South's better bowlers having bowled most of their overs. Probably pretty even in my opinion...

Might have to send someone up to Tanunda during the xmas break to give them a hand getting their pitch ready...or maybe they might fancy their chances against us and find the time to prepare one...

Rather than wasting the petrol heading to Tanunda, you may be better served sending those same guys out to the dog track to fix that pitch up. (given that no play was possible there either).

I thought we were helping you blokes out by calling the game off? your skipper was on the phone to us every 20 mins from 11am asking if it was called off yet...

I don't have an issue if a game is called off due to rain etc but for a club not to put the covers on the pitch when rain was forecasted for Friday night and on top of that the pitch looked very under prepared, to me questions do need to be asked and legitimate reasons given. People can raise the argument that we would have been washed out anyway, sure but the home side should still be trying everything to get a game of cricket up as Kapunda did and Nuri were trying to do.
Lets raise points such as they had a couple of key players out, playing the top team, playing last years 1 day premiers. might have thought that they may struggle so lets take the 5 points out of the game. Only having five Tanunda players rock up to the ground acting like they were concerned that we wouldn't get a game in, cmon fellas where were the other 6 players??? Already at the front bar of the TH!!!

Would have thought it was quite prudent to make a few calls rather than wasting the trip if you were near certain a day or two out that the pitch would be under water and has stick down matting.

Frick lives in Port Lincoln, I'm pretty sure that's in the country!

But Boh is the quintessential country cricketer, I agree.

Well only 8 days still the second half of the season and am pumped for the first game back. Will be good to test ourselves against one of the form teams of the comp.

What is everyones predictions for the second half of the year? Its good to see the comp so close apart from the top three sides, will the ladder change a little or a lot before the end of the season?

I think the season will finish up with:

Angaston
Nuriootpa
Gilbert Valley
Sandy Creek
Kapunda
Tanunda
Gawler Central
Gawler South

Can only see there being between 5 and 10 points between the bottom 5 sides unless they can score wins against the top three
Get that corn outta my face!!
