Well if thats true then its certainly not working as well as they would like lol! Unfortunately their playing squad just isnt that strong, probably struggle any higher up so although they may look good in low div they arent that crash hot. In fact take 3 or 4 players out and i think Fitzroy B grade would even pump them

Of what i hear, most of their batsmen just slog every ball. I think they had one good batter who made a hundred against the B grade. I know that their number 11 batsman who calls himself a spinner talks it up a fair bit.

Brooklyn are basically a 4 man team.. A.Thompson, S&C Rainsford, A Hassen. Hassen is a slapper. So is Thompson but his are well played shots if ya watch him properly. The Rainsford brothers though are very respectable solid batters. They have next to no leg side shots but still get runs on the board

agree 100%
actually, agree with your whole assesment of BP.

Yeah I got 5/61 off 20.2

Bowled alright. They batted well though. Marshall got 97. Sucked in!!!

Never bowled that many overs before, started cramping a bit at the end.

hmmmm i'd take 97 everytime i batted young pidge..................
and in my opinion marshall is clearly in the best 3to5 batsmen of the comp. by a long way

i think automaticwicky is the best bat in the comp

haha bit of both, 0/6 off 4 overs, then ATCA cut sick, abt 0/100 of 13. Bowlers bowled to many loose balls and got punished, in particular Steve Clarke and Rob Muir. Richard Marshall bowled superb and pulled them back in.

Batting was very ordinary, slumped to 4/21 as no batsman put any value on their wicket that and the quality of the bowling was pretty decent.

I think the side expected to lose and took that mentality into the game, ATCA had something like 6 ex district players ive been told so i think that may have played on the minds of the players.

Marshall & Gully best bowlers, Vanderwerf & Aistrope best bats

No havent had 21's for 2 years now. Exec committee got tired trying to chase players to fill a team every game and there just wasnt a great deal of interest from players.

Have some young up and comers coming through at the moment so hopefully next season

We should have an under 21 side. I would be up for that. Surely there are enough players to field a side. Just looking at Fitzroy there are a fair few guys under 21. Lutheran have a couple of good players. One guy hit an unbeaten hundred against us last year.

Yea i think next year will be the right time to re-introduce the 21's, everyone will be around the mark and will be competitive, dont wont to just make up numbers.

I would just like to comment to Outsidesledge that our club is playing a fair few youthies at the moment. A large percentage of these players are in the B grade. They may be losing a fair few games, but we are building a core group of players to play Div 1 together in 2,3,4 or 5 years.
I love putting on the Baggy Blue and playing a game of cricket each week with a top bunch of lads

Looks to be a pretty strong line up. But if you look at the runs for the year NE Knights have a few in the top. And being a bit bias, Loechel, Giggs and Hoeful (top 3 run getters from last year) would be a shot. And what about Barnes, Sharkey and Balding on the bowling front. Balding is definetly the fastest bowler ive faced in the last couple of years. Nearly took my head off with one ball and got me in the shoulder next one. One things for sure though, the more good players we can put up for selection the stronger the side will be.

We have seven young guns at the club, all earmarked for future A grade. A few have and are playing A grade. It will be beneficial for the competition to give these and other players representative games. Is there anyone on here who is on the committee of SACCA?

Maybe we should just organise a side and take it to the association and tell them we want to play etc?

As for the opens, i think definately some quality players running around but dont think they put their hands up, half the problem is finding players who want to play..

We should do that. Get a confirmation of numbers for the people that would be interested.
