Marshall ran out for 3. The side to be announced Friday, hot tip is the following squad

R. Marshall (C) Para Vista
S. Holland (VC) Paralowie
A. Frith (Paralowie)
T. Hodson (Para Vista)
E. Vanderbyl (Western X1)
S. Aistrope (Para Vista)
R. Vanderwerf (Morialta)
J. Vines (Para Vista)
A. Gully (Enfield)
B. Reidy (Rose Park)
M. Cossens (Para Vista)
R. Muir (Western X1)
S. Clarke (Adel. Lutheran)

Looks to be a pretty strong line up. But if you look at the runs for the year NE Knights have a few in the top. And being a bit bias, Loechel, Giggs and Hoeful (top 3 run getters from last year) would be a shot. And what about Barnes, Sharkey and Balding on the bowling front. Balding is definetly the fastest bowler ive faced in the last couple of years. Nearly took my head off with one ball and got me in the shoulder next one. One things for sure though, the more good players we can put up for selection the stronger the side will be.

you make some good points there mate but the nth east. boys to me knowlage arnt that keen on the idea so in my opinion if your heart isnt in it dont do it on the balding and giggs topic again just my opinion i dont think either of them could play 5 days of cricket in a row be good if they could but i just cant see it. barnes is a differant topic all together and i'll leave that 1 alone and i have no idea who sharkey is where is he from mate?

Dont really think you need to be a quick bowler to be a good bowler. Think they pick the team on who wants to go

I cant believe there is no room for Pidge in that squad, and he was saying the same thing to me earlier today.

I heard that Mattsy was close to getting into the ATCA representative side but missed out as the selectors got sick of rumours and inuendo that he started.

Gday Mr Matsy, Just out of interest im keen to know your thoughts on the standard of Div 1 SACCA and your current level of turf. From the outside yappy looks like hes making the same sort of runs he did with us.

After playing A2 turf at golden grove and Div 1 SACCA i would say turf kills it by a mile. I think Golden Grove are in B2 or B3 now so i would think they would be around the same. Yappy,s straight batting and his patience would be paying off lol

Not sure bout that one young fella. It was a good win by the ATCA boys though not unexpected i guess.

Buffster the standard is good. We are in B2 and the real strong turf clubs are fairly decent through the grades due to their depth. As far as sacca div 1 as a comparison i would suggest that it isnt as strong as B2. The spinners are better and the better batsmen are extremely strong all around the ground. Teams bat 80 overs also which i think is handy.

Ive never played on turf but i wouldve guessed Div1 SACCA to be about a B2 or B3 based on some guys that left our club to play in those divisions.

SACCA standard has dropped a long way over the last 2, 3 years in my opinion.

I guess youre right, it is hard to judge when you havent done it. Id suggest if you have a week off during the season then go have a look at some games to make an assessment.

I think that as SACCA needs a junior filter competition. u15 or something. ive noticed, and were trying to address it at our club, that players are getting older in general and its hard to get players, especially younger players coming into the competition. Most players that come into the SACCA are friends of friends. I would suggest that as time goes by and as the older players move on, they will outnumber the incoming younger players. So i reckon unless clubs do something about it, its probably inevitable that the standard will decline.
