That's what the problem has been over the last couple of seasons, there needs to be a coach that is willing to do some homework and suss out a good squad, there are good players in grade 2 that could push for selection.

I just had a look at their team from last week, and you'd be close there Browny. What a line-up!!!!

Take 3 out for Sibbick, Leo and McNair/Fantasia/Figalo/Feltus/Brown ;) and prob a couple I'm forgetting?????, you'd have a great team come SAMCA Cup time.

LM, how do you rate Bateson from your mob? Played against him last year and was very surprised he never got the new ball. Has a bit of pace, can move the ball and if I remember right he can also hold the bat fairly well.

He has lost a lot of weight over the past few years and that has helped with his pace, he doesn't train very often which is disappointing. He bowled very well against Riverside and that was into the breeze in the first innings. He came on downstream in the 2nd dig and bowled with a fair bit of pace and a tight line, he is a very improved cricketer and could be in for a good season.
He batted at 10 on the weekend and looked very good, unfortunately for him was the fact that everyone in the team has scored an A grade 50 during their career and he was in the side as a bowler. We have a club rule that you can't bat 9,10 or 11 and not bowl in the first 4, this helps us with team balance and keeps everyone having a part to play. He has opened the batting for our A's and looks very comfortable, our bottom half outscored our top half last week and it's a luxury to be able to turn the batting line up upside down and probably still achieve a similar result.
He came from Eastern Park a few years back.

No pressure on Groover for the T20. The footy squad assembled resembles the World XI, so there will be plenty of help coming from the other 10. Did I also mention C Payne is making an appearance for the footy squad. Will slot in nicely at 11 I reckon ;)

I have no doubts about that LM.. Grade 2 players should certainly be getting a look in. Well actually every grade should be looked at because i'm sure there is alot of players "hiding" for whatever reason in the lower grades.
