Interesting reading about how the Darwin competition is struggling. Over reliance on imports who disappear prior to finals. Tough for clubs to afford the costs of these players. Not enough juniors coming through.

Probably since the Redbacks have been ordinary over the past couple of years the fringe players from other states probably feel like they'll get a better opportunity here, since there doesn't seem to be a lot of promoting of any young talent from SA (exception of Pope last year)?
Speaking of the Darwin comp, sad to hear that Waratah are likely to fold after this season after 63 years. Shame that this can happen and hopefully a lifeline comes from somewhere.
I see there are a couple of young lads from SA playing up there. Not a bad option instead of going to the UK.

Warratah just not going to field a First Grade team next season. Continuing in all other grades.

Shame though as Gardens Oval is a billiard table during the cricket season.

Ah ha - thanks for that. Still hope they can get their A Grade up and running again next year. You're right - Gardens is a great deck.

Anyone know why the Redbacks League sides have a range from 24 players to 17 players for only 3 games?
Rotation policy?

They include all U19 squad members that nominate as well as some random picks. Many will not play.

I had heard in the past that it was compulsory for all U/19 squad members to nominate (or be nominated by SACA). Don't think they would all play though as there's other players that would be involved (e.g. ER + Redbacks players not playing in the Marsh Bros. Cup?).

Phil Salt the final Strikers import signing?

Not sure how he's gone in county cricket but feels a little underwhelming. Was ok at Uni but didn't look a class above or anything

Sounds like a gritty type of player.

Won't happen unfortunately. The Darwin economy is broke and there just isn't the sponsorship to keep clubs flush with cash and this has his Waratah. Real shame though, great place to play and watch Cricket. Most clubs have 7-8 imports.

Palmerston the only one really flush with locals and being competitive. They only rely on 2-3 imports and make sure they stay for the whole season.

Interesting that SACA have a real focus on Women's cricket yet no females on the Premier Cricket sub committees :-? probably because no females on the PCC.

Is it time those with Women's teams form their own?

They have their female umpire to hang their hat on. That is all that matters to SACA I've heard.

Gee, I would've thought that Port Adelaide would've been offered the option to just have a team in the B Grade womens comp, it appears not.

Does anyone know what comp they are playing in this year?

Noticed that on my Cricket. Some teams could potentially have their three best players out!! Not very fair.

If this is the case it is an absolute disgrace!

I see the ER games in the T20 comp have now been changed to mid-week to avoid clashing with all other games. Makes sense so the players in the ER can play for their home clubs as well which is a good thing.
