I thought it was a fair comment...heroes come in many forms and stopping a cricket with ya face is pretty complicated at the best of times.

And well done Ecky, the website is fantastically marvellous and extremely up to date. A well deserved Auto thumbs up!

Its a bit of a joke. I don't understand how a club would allow this.

Woke up saturday morning to find we only had 5 players in the a grade and playing away in 40 degree heat. Our Captain, 4 a grade players and the Cricket director are all overseas atm and we werent left with any phone numbers so we couldnt get hold of anyone associated in our b grade to come up and play. There was no training tuesday either so there was no way I could get in contact with any b graders. So we had to ring up the Roys and the league to inform them that we just wouldnt be able to field an a grade team. There was no chance in hell after last week (fielding all day with 8 or 9 players) that the 5 of us were willing to travel out to roys and make do with a couple of fill ins.

We make it compulsory for all players to report to our club at noon on gameday to avoid any of this sort of problem and to carpool.

Lost time at the start of the time due to them having stuck down matting. So at the end of the day it was a draw. They did not bowl 65 overs and Vista did not make the runs.

Not sure about the other game

your kidding right??? ran out of time?
Match rules clearly state you must receive the same amount of overs that you bowled, or 5.15pm....which ever is the latest.

a slow over rate does not constitute a draw. 65 overs MUST have been bowled...(or whatever luthos faced) as a minimum...regarless of when the game started.

this is an outrage....i dont know how this happened. unless i interpreted the rules wrong.

7.1 Match Results
(a) If the team that bats second in the first innings of any match does not receive the
number of overs to which it is entitled, is not dismissed and does not pass the
score of the team that batted first, then the match is drawn.

(e) Whenever either a change of innings occurs during the course of a day’s play or
time is lost for unforeseen circumstances, the minimum number of overs
remaining to be bowled on that day will be adjusted in the following way:-
(i) first, calculate the number of minutes scheduled for play for the remainder
of the day (allowing 10 minutes for the change of innings, if appropriate);
and
(ii) then, divide the result by four and round up to the nearest whole number
(if necessary) to fix the adjusted minimum number of overs.

still kidding me right???

therefore, were overs adjusted because u started 30min late. did u get the runs? was the target adjusted at all??

rule 6.5 (c)... did they bowl the minimum overs as required??

rule 7.1 (b)

"for all purposes of the Rules, a match is drawn if it is abandoned or cancelled for any other reason other than the forfeiture of one of the teams"

......so did u cancel or abandon.

im confused. how can u not get a result of cricket when 2 full days are played? (apart from 30 min, which u could have made up).

am i the only confused one here???

BB If you read the rules as much as you say. Can you find the rule for Adjusting Totals or making up time. I cant seem to find it. We played the game to the rules of the Association that we both play in. Not our fault if you think this is wrong

I'm not sure Pidge - your 30 not out appears in the scores John McTier sent me to put on the website, so either
a) the scores weren't phoned in in time or
b) The Sunday Mail stuffed up and didn't include them (which is the likely situation as there are no div 5 or one-day scores in the paper  )

By the way, the phoned in scores are now on the website.

The correct rules were applied in the Adelaide Lutheran vs Para Vista game as far as I can see.

If anyone should be complaining it should be me since Adelaide Lutheran were the ones disadvantaged the most by the late start!
