Hahahahahah such a strange comment!! and all this shows is that once again a grade club places their own interests above the SACA's. Don't get me wrong there are many issues at the SACA as well, but the competition is never going to improve and therefore never develop the next lot of state cricketers while this continues to occur

Just an observation and I'm all for wanting to see the Redbacks perform strongly, and whilst I agree with developing cricketers for higher honours, could it be that a lot of the clubs have had a gutful of the arrogant attitude of some of those in the HP set up, and of some of those at the SACA in general? Could this be some clubs giving a middle finger up at SACA and in an unorthodox way hoping for some genuine change there, and not some token moves coming out of the Hussey review (i.e. appointing a chairman of selectors who in reality only does what he is told)?

Regardless of the reasoning, it's an indication of a completely broken system

Absolutely Spot on. There is no way that this will ever be rectified which is why I believe that the comp needs a complete overhaul.

FWIW I completely agree that Nielsen should be keeping whenever he is playing Grade Cricket. Even if he is currently in the Redbacks as a batsman - if/when Carey gets selected for Australia, Nielsen is next in line.

I am questioning whether it was a good decision by Nielsen to approach West Torrens to come and play to be playing with friends at the expense of being first choice keeper. Remembering he was knocked back the season before for the same reason.

I can understand West Torrens taking Nielsen if he was happy to play 2nd fiddle to Peters, as he is a gun batsman, he was a junior at the club, has good mates playing and his Dad is a club legend. It would be presumed Nielsen would only be available for a couple of games given his schedule as a First Class and BBL cricketer. That also being the reason to keep Peters.

Maybe West Torrens has taken it's cake and eaten it too with regards to signing Nielsen on, but at the end of the day, it is the professional cricketer himself that has chosen to put himself in this position and maybe this is a reflection of the culture at the Redbacks.

Then again, like I said earlier, it worked out ok for Wade and Paine, who were both playing for Tasmania. And maybe it isn't such a big deal, because Nielsen probably will only play a couple of games at WT this season. Plus, Peters and Nielsen seemed pretty happy sharing the role and playing together in a big win on the weekend. Perhaps there's nothing to see here.

Started batting No.4, pushed down to No. 6, now dropped to 2nd Grade. Not like he is in a strong side either with Adelaide struggling at the moment.

That's why Clubs should not promise the world to kids, it never works out. That was the point I was making back then! Maybe the Dad will take him to Souherns now

Another 180* for Drew today against a more than decent Woodville attack. Surely time for the Redbacks to give him another shot after their recent batting efforts.

That might be difficult ... they wouldn't recognise class and weight transfer and decent wrists and athletic talent if it bit them on the proverbial.

He should be playing tomorrow, for him to not get added to squad ahead of Lehmann and Tom Kelly is a joke.

As this is the last game for Redbacks till next February he has a fair wait, by then they will just stick with the current team. Can’t see him getting a gig unfortunately

Has Drew upset someone at the Redbacks (maybe Nielsen who controls everything there)? I’d have him instead of Lehmann. Kelly should be given an opportunity as players like him and Drew have more upside than Lehmann. They need to pick guys who are in form and unfortunately by the time the shield starts again Drew may be out of form (hopefully not) and he’ll get ignored again.

A few of the Grade clubs would beat the Redbacks at the moment.

When someone is in the form that Drew is in and the batting has been so hopeless for the Redbacks, give him a go. His style is suited perfectly to the 50-over game.

This is typical of the Redbacks. They are just a hopeless organisation.

How Pope is still getting a game is beyond me?
The only constant they should have at selection is pick players in form.
