There was talk at last nights association meeting about a 20/20 compettition being set-up this season. They were only very early talks but there was a certain level of interest from most clubs that were represented. I would personally like to see a FA Cup style format which would give the opportunity for all clubs to put in one side and they could play anyone and it would be a knockout format. Possibly with 3 weeks to complete a game then have the final about a fortnight before the finals start for the real competition. I think it would get about 12-16 clubs that would be interested in the beginning.

What do others think? Would your club be interested and what kind of format do you think would work best?

Theres 20/20 at our club on friday nights, underlights and i think it is a round robin format with a premiership table i think. Playing under lights is fantastic and i think our club would be more than willing to host a few games.

its more beer cricket than anything bloods, smaller boundaries, bowling of 4 steps that sort of thing, cricket club had no involvement in it, due to insurance issues. The teams were made up mainly with blokes that dont play cricket, just want to have a bit of a hit.

Somewhere between beer cricket (mmm beer) and our normal game could be the option.

Just as bloods mentioned,a composite side made up of all the players at the club would be a good idea, however, perhaps limiting the amount of Section 1 players in the team, say 4 or 5 would encourage more of the players to get involved. For a Section 4 or 5 player rolls up on a Friday to play and you get 9 of the Section 1 team there and he misses out,you can bet he wont be real keen to fill in when he gets called upon.

I think that it should just be 1 division as i think most clubs playing div 3 or 4 would love the opportunity to play against a section 1 or 2 club. Some wouldn't i am sure but i think they would be the minority. It will be interesting to see what does get up.

Would players actually want to be playing cricket when Friday nights are still bloody cold and possibly wet in September? Needs a telstra dome to work.

I've heard that promotions / relegations haven't yet been finalised for this season. Sheidow Pk to come up to sec 1 but Morphy's may not go down as there is a chance Glenelg ANA are pulling out of ASCA to go elsewhere? Turf?

i think that you would also have the option of playing the games on sundays AF. I have heard the same story about Glenelg ANA going to turf but i don't think that it will happen this year. Also heard that Steve Rowe is back from melbourne for them which may bring Daniel Rowe from glenelg district back as well.

Doesnt have to be pre season, you could play it through the season and then some time after xmas have the grand final.

Yeah that is what i think you should be able to have 2-3 weeks to complete a round and then have the GF about a fortnight before the finals start.

not a bad idea. most would find it too much with saturday cricket, but good for those who can't get enough. would think that each club could have a team which they rotate players into each week, perhaps guys that can't play saturday or need to find some form.

Yeah i agree AF i think that we would have to make our side up of people from our A's, B's and C grades i know we wouldn't get our A grade 11 together for a 20/20 every 3 or 4 weeks. It is also a good opportunity to give blokes that are on the cusp of the A's a taste of cricket with/against A graders.

Any more news on Glenelg ANA possibly going to turf? Any news on any other recruits for anyone else. Keswick, Sth Rd and Coromandel have been keeping things quiet.
