Andrew Mitchell the best cricketer to play in the Stanley over the last 20 years. Would easily have more hundreds than anyone else in that time besides perhaps Paul Meyer. Bowled a heavy ball back in the day too. Hits sixes over long off for fun.

Sevenhill will be playing in the Country T20 competition this year. Apparently the first round of games will be held at Sevenhill.

Should be a great day.

Not doubting Mitchell's talent but Paul Meyer's record would surely far outweigh Mitchell's. That said, Meyer has batted on the lightning Brinky outfield for half his matches

I'd throw Ryan Darling's name into that equation too.

Whispers circulating Ryan Darling maybe one of Blyths recruits this year. I've never seen him bat but heard plenty.

I've only been the comp for a couple of years but did Cat ever bat higher up the order in his younger days or has he always been a 6-7.

A top 10 batsman and bowlers in the comp for the last 10 years would be an interesting debate

Paul Meyer would be the first name on the batting list. But in no particular order across the past decade.

Top 10 batsmen:
P Meyer (BK)
T McPharlin (LN)
M Vandeleur (CC)
R Darling (LN)
R McPharlin (LN)
S Stedall (CC)
A Mitchell (Aub-Mint)
K Steele (BK/Sevenhill)
M Dopson (Sevenhill)
B Smith (Watervale)

Top 10 bowlers:
J Taylor (LN)
B Jones (LP/LN)
S Helbig (Watervale)
C Marshall (LN)
M Higgs (LN)
R Darling (LN)
B Whiting (BK)
M Inglis (Sevenhill)
I Moller (BK)
B Barton (CC)

Yeah I was only going off the performances and the roles they play in the two years I’ve been up here.

No doubt cat is in your top 10

Did helbig use to be decent, hasn’t done much in my two years and bowls off a couple of steps

Just had a look I’ve had 33 wickets at 18 with an economy 3.2

I’ll force my way into your next side

Watervale caused a big upset in round 1 beating Sevenhill.

We dropped 7 catches with probably 5 of them very catchable. You cant drop that many catches against any side and expect to win.

Tyson Webb batted real well and guided Watervale to a very solid score.

We were in the run chase right up until the 40th over but just didnt have enough hitting power at the end.

Sevenhill win in an absolute beauty low scoring game

Nine down 12 runs left chasing 108 the seahorses got across the line

Yeah, baffled they cant find 11 blokes in the entire town of Clare to fill one side.

To be brutally honest they have been a shambles in the two years i have been up here. I'm surprised they have managed to hold onto their juniors.

Not long until Stanley has to merge with another comp.

Agree whufc.

The logical thing to do would be to invite Burra and Spalding/Boob to join Stanley and then the Rocky River comp to join with the Northern Areas comp. That way it would basically emulate the NEFL and the NAFA in the footy, and reduce travel for Burra & Spalding/Boob.

Also Burra & Spalding/Boob already compete in the Stanley colts competition. So to me it’s a no brainer.

Apparently Redhill on the brink anyway in a 4-team comp.

Redhill to Brinky, you'd get two senior sides then.

Clare will only field one senior side this season, in the A1s. There's no way they'll have an A2s.

The whole senior situation is a genuine concern though.

Funding is being pumped into female cricket, that's all well and good, I have two young daughters who may want to pay one day, but for large towns like Two Wells and Clare to be fumbling for a senior men's cricket side, Australia's national game in the summer, is farcical.
