nt sure but blokes at district cricket think the one at Bice Oval (southern district) is an absolute shocker and the groundsman has no idea... heard they wanna get rid of the clown who is doing it down there as it is a disgrace... and from what i have seen i couldn agree more... sounds like boy doing mans job!

I played an under 21s game there years ago and every ball of my first over left a massive indent in the pitch - was a bit of a minefield that day!!

I thought Callington was good!! Only because I took 6 for stuff all there one day in Meyer Shield....

From what I heard today WTF are they smoking down at Bice :weedman:

Gary Putland bowling to SA team mate Dan Cullen pitches one short and sprays down leg side barely getting above DC's ankles. Everyone looks around in astonishment and Putland returns to his mark and bowls the same length next ball almost knocks Dan's head off   Southern should be embarrassed at that joke of a deck and the SACA should find a letter of complaint in the grade cricket department this week.

Don't know what going on with that...

Every wicket this season has been prepared the same way...

Will check it today...

It's got me worried, the problem could be the re-sodding that was done post season last year or me?...

All of the pitches in the Barossa are very good pitches and can get taken for granted. The Barossa recently hosted the Aust Country Carnival and all the states were very impressed with the decks, as was Les Burdett who indicated they had it over most city decks.

If you had to rank them though I'd have Nuri and Tanunda a the bottom of the list of Barossa pitches behind Eudunda/Kapunda/Stockwell (in no particular order), even though they are still good, but outside of 'special' games they are generally underpreparedcompared to the other 3 decks.

The SA captain considered Stocky as the best deck that SA played on over the carnival (they played everywhere bar Eudunda), and the manager rated it amongst the top 2 or 3 decks he had seen over ten or so years of Aust Country Championships.

If forced to rank I'd go:
Stockwell
Eudunda (almost nothing in it for top place)
Kapunda
Tanunda
Nuriootpa

Barmera is pretty good. Has been relaid in the past five years. A bit of bounce in it but good for batting on.
Berri should be a belter next season - it's been relaid this summer.
Loxton is a shocker - dead as.
Waikerie can be very good on its day and is probably the best in the Riverland.
Renmark - inconsistent in quality.

Langhorne Creek- always been a belter
Stockwell/Light Pass- batsmans paradise + nice small boundries
Tanunda- more of a personal preference
Mt Gambier- not sure exactly which one but it was a great looking deck and played beautifully.

any thoughts on the worst???

i'lld say Kapunda and Eudunda... the barossa is very hit and miss.
