It's going to be interesting to see what model is finally adopted and also whether past performances have any weighting in deciding who is in Div.1 .
Why is it that the Grade comp is taking a hit (yes - we have been calling for a shakeup of the Grade comp for a long time and fair enough) but the High Performance dept is untouched? Surely the High Performance dept at the Redbacks also has to cop it for the problems we have here is SA?? As mentioned before, finishing bottom for the past 5 seasons and bugger-all success for a long time with the same people still running the show!!

Reckon that guarantees them top 6 next year, spot in Div 1 for 23/24. Well played Port.

Do the SACA put any input into spreading the recruits across sides to help balance the comp

They 'recommend' clubs to players and vice versa. It's then up to the clubs and players to agree terms.

Given the talk of 2 divisions from 2023/24 I thought I'd have a look out of interest to see which clubs have finished in the top 6 in 1st Grade from the past 5 seasons (from 2017/18 to 2021/22). The results came up as follows:

Uni (5 times)
Sturt, Glenelg, Kensington (4)
TTG, Adelaide (3)
WT, ET, Woodville (2)
Sth Districts (1)

It would be interesting to see if any "weighting" is given to clubs this year from their past performances or whether this will be ignored and whoever finishes top 6 this season coming up gets the nod? As mentioned in previous posts, what's to stop some clubs shelling out some coin for this season to get them over the line if past performances are going to be ignored.

Having transparent and valid criteria is vital to the success/acceptance of the proposal.

I hope it's not kept under lock and key - or rubbery, like the AFL's free agency compensation or priority pick secret formula.

I would think the goal would is two fold; to produce good players and to have a strong competition.

Which are the clubs that regularly produce good players and regularly provide strong competition? And how is that best measured? How long is the time frame that is looked at?

GRADE CRICKET IN THE 21ST CENTURY

The cricket world has changed, players are more mobile in moving across states, so the old paradigm of 20th century grade cricket which existed, is no longer valid. The dominant clubs are now active in creating a cricketing environment that is dynamic.

7 Teams will not work, division 2 will become a farce over time.

Having 2 divisions will create a divide which will diminish the club environment and that cannot be good for the development of cricketers in this state.

The future of cricket in this state requires the CEO, the SACA Board and the Grade cricket committee to change and take responsibility in doing the right thing - ten teams will work, this current proposal is more of the same for this state.

The clubs at the bottom of the pile need to read the tea leaves, keep your head in the sand and you become irrelevant, as a merged identity you will keep your history.

Adelaide University do not provide anything for grade cricket, they either merge or play Community Cricket. The world has changed and unless they pillage from others they are not viable in first grade cricket in the 21st century.

As someone who is a part of a 'bottom' club, I can absolutely say we are doing everything we can to right the 'ship' and make grade cricket better. We need a little more time to bear the fruits of the labour expended so far. We aren't afraid of the 2 Div format because we are driven to make the club return to previous successes. Our issue is we aren't an attractive destination....................yet! But we are working bloody hard to get there in our own right, and not merged with another club.

McInerney would be too young to be a club coach wouldn’t he?
Is he still a chance to play for redbacks
