Return to sender - Cooper Luke back to East Torrens. I did hear that Bosisto may be back at Uni this season as well.

Speaking of East Torrens, Ryan King is apparently skipper for them this season.

Apologies but wasn't sure where to put this.
Been watching QLD Premier Cricket T20 competition on Kayo. They do this very well and there are quite a few interstate first class/List A players featuring for the clubs up there - Lehmann, Nielsen, Johnson, Manenti from the Redbacks. All the QLD players featuring as well including Khawaja and Labuschagne
Absolutely leaves SA cricket for dead.

Agree 100%. What great promotion for the Premier cricket clubs as well as opportunity for players to be picked up by Brisbane Heat. Obviously their weather and the time of year it’s played is advantageous. Perhaps there would be a window after their comp finishes Sept 4 and prior to the One Day comp starting towards the end of Sept for something similar to be organised here? Our September weather is usually ok and all the games could be hosted at Karen Rolton after work and on Karen Rolton/Park 25 on weekends, presuming they can get pitches up and get rid of the footy being played by mid August.

It would not only serve the Strikers well re potential players to contract but would be a good warm up for SA prior to the 50 over comp.

The pathways for a long time have been Premier Cricket > State Cricket > International Cricket.

We now have Franchise Cricket competing with International Cricket as a cricketers end game.

I guess that will filter down to different pathways potentially as well?

Theoretically you could make a fortune in franchise cricket by consistently being able to make 30 from 10 balls and bowl two overs for about 20 runs, but you may never be able to bat out a session at 1st Grade level or get a wicket.

New comp confirmed for 2023-24 (RED BALL ONLY).
8-team division 1 and 6-team division 2 which includes SA Under 19.
Division 1 next year based on top 8 at end of minor round this season, therefore no reward/recognition for clubs who have been consistent over the journey - hence probably why Port, ND etc. are spending huge $$ this year??

Who is ND spending money on?

Thank the lord that SACA have seen the light and moved towards an 8 team comp. This year will be the strongest the comp has ever been which has probably proven SACA right in making the decision to go to 2 divs.

The U19 side will be interesting, you’d hope any of the outstanding talents, the likes of Higgins from Glenelg in previous years, still get to play for their club if the role is there, but those who are stuck in a poorer role (under 10 overs, or batting 7/8) play for the 19’s.

so the journey to a dysfunctional cricket system in SA continues.

clubs will spend up big on interstate recruits at the expense of investing in club pathways/coaching, as there is only so much money to go around.

when the money runs out there are no locals, no volunteers and many juniors have found better things to do in summer.

well done! - at least there are 8 clubs in 1st division and everybody in the saca high performance area keeps their jobs regardless of their performance.

I think we have reached the dysfunction .... just wonder if we might try a reculturing exercise .. possibly might need to bring someone in but 1 shield in 40 years has a small hint of a problem with culture
