Who says they need to pick a spinner?

I'd be happy with another all-rounder who bowls meds, or a specialist middle order bat and rely on Head to bowl a few.

Agree that's probably the way I would go. We saw against Queensland that Head was able to get a bit of purchase and turn a few.

Given our issues I would much rather see an all rounder which hopefully strengthens the batting. My SA team would look like:

Hunt
Weatherald
Carder
Head
Drew
Carey
C.Kelly
Scott
McAndrew
Worrall
Grant

Losing Tom O'Connell was a loss

He and Pope are the same age. Imagine they would have been pretty competitive with each other on the way through the system. Kept each other on their toes, working hard, improving.

O'Connell seems to have sunk without trace in Melbourne. Terrible move for him, terrible result for us.

Never thought it possible but the redbacks have gone backwards under Dizzy.

At least in previous years they were in winning positions in games even if they still did lose.

They don’t even look capable of winning at the moment.

His debut just got a whole lot easier, Strikers playing trial game on Saturday so WT lose Spencer Johnson and Ryan Gibson, now taking Daniel Drew as well to make up the numbers

Does that mean he may have picked up a short term deal - replacement player for someone in the Strikers?

Last year Ryan Gibson got a contract that way to replace Travis Head, so the Strikers could potentially do the same if Carey and Head are both out with Aussie duties. If he goes alright the next two days in the trials he would have to be a good chance. He is way too good with the white ball to not have a BBL contract or be playing one day matches for Redbacks.

He did very well, coming in early at number 4 and putting a big partnership on with Brennan, who made a century. Retired Hurt on 77 and came back out later down the order hobbling and out for 78.

Good win by WT bowling Woodville out for 318 with 5 overs to spare. A bit of luck with the injury and a run out of Sayers at the non-strikers end off Short’s foot, combined with hard toil by all the bowlers, especially Buckingham (3 wickets), Fallins (3 wickets) and Short. Higton controlled his left arm offies very well and will give selectors another option. Buckingham looks very capable of heading up the attack if Johnson misses due to the BBL.

A great run chase by Port Adelaide too, eclipsing Prospect’s 398, 5 down.

Is it too much to ask to have the ladders updated on a Monday on MyCricket?
All the games are live scored at least in A an B grade but still not showing all teams updated games in the ladders. Very annoying.
Unsure of how the SACA Premier cricket staff fill in their days to be honest

It's the clubs

Games left unfinished

Ladders update automatically but some games are left as match in progress even after they're done

Ladder after Round 5
95 Sturt - surprise packets. Solid team. Spoors a decent recruit and some younger players coming on. Will the Kelly brothers be off to higher honours though?
70 University* - looking ominous, even without Wakim. Winter and Agar a destructive combo
65 West Torrens - strongest top order in the competition when at full strength. If Spencer Johnson stays fit they will be up there
60 Kensington* - there again. Big game vs West Torrens this round

60 Glenelg* - strong team as usual.
60 Tea Tree Gully - look a completely different unit with Page, Worden and Oakley all back. Contenders
60 East Torrens - Dangerous team in all formats. Got their regulars plus Campbell Thompson looks a find (left arm quick)

Sadly I think the teams from here down will be making up the numbers:
40 Port
40 Woodville
30 Prospect
20 Northern Districts*
20 Adelaide*
0 Southern District

*have had the bye

Some big games this round:
Tea Tree Gully vs Glenelg
University vs Sturt
West Torrens vs Kensington

Early days of course but these "8 point games" might be looked back upon as decisive, especially as teams want momentum going into Christmas
