Bit rough to make that call on yesterday's results alone. Across all turf competitions the batting was obviously hard. Lots of low scores across the board.

Can only presume Cossie just brought up his hundred with Port catching it and stepping over the boundary. Port being Port claimed the catch. Umpire gives it six after a minute or so of deliberating.

I agree the competition has been closer than you might think

Some blowouts but other teams competitive in all contests

Will be an interesting end to the season

Looks like 6 wins and you are in Div 1.

Adelaide and Southerns already headed for Div 2, maybe the merger should of occurred!

Do players from these 2 clubs start shopping around to play Div 1, you would think first class players would want to play Div 1.

#backthebacks would recruit again from interstate so those lads will want to play Div 1, gulf between Div 1 and Div 2 could be quite large.

Any whispers on potential court proceedings appealing the model at the end of the season?

Having spent plenty of time reading through them over the years, it seems they have been updated and edited so many times there are plenty of contradictions and out-of-date clauses, There is probably a need to start from scratch and rewrite them all, and perhaps that is something SACA admin needs to look as as PCC volunteers are not in the best place to do this well.

Fair call. The weight put on club volunteers, and for that matter, amateur cricketers who pay their subs, to provide enough resources and competition to support professional cricketers to develop and supposedly support a professional team to perform better is unrealistic and unreasonable. More resources should be provided.

In terms of starting from scratch - I think there is a good opportunity for Premier Cricket to go further with this Division concept. Nothing has changed in decades.

On the proviso that all 12 clubs are supported equally in terms of resources for their junior and senior teams, plus Uni, so they can continue to provide pathways and have an opportunity, if good enough, to win their way to Division 1, I think an 8 team Division 1 is a good thing.

I would go further and have 4 divisions of 8 teams. Division 5 and 6 could be 10 teams or if 4th Grade is dropped, Div 5 could be 7 teams with a bye. Either way. But there shouldn’t be a SACA U19 team competing in any division.

A club can only have one team in each division. Promotion only occurs if the premier doesn’t have a team from its club in the division above.

With 8 teams, you can have a full home and away regular season. 3 of those games could be one-day games to determine semi finalists in that comp. Id hold those 3 rounds in December with the SF and GF on the Sat/Sun first weekend back after the 2 week Xmas/New Years break.

The T20 comp could still be held mid-week and semis and finals of all divisions could be played on the one day at Karen Rolton/Park 25 and Uni ovals if necessary. The Div 1 Final at night on Karen Rolton after all other divisions have completed their final. A big celebration of premier cricket - maybe the weekend before the Xmas break.

So every player gets the opportunity to play the 3 formats of cricket as part of that pathway. Every club gets an opportunity to be a Division 1 club if they’re good enough. There are far more opportunities to play finals and win premierships.

I think a complete overhaul like this would be a better outcome for all clubs. I think the current Div 2 concept of 5 teams plus SACA U19 is messy and unappealing.

And FWIW, I like the WA junior model of U13, U14, U15 and U17.

All of the above doesn’t change much in terms of number of teams, number of players and numbers of facilities each club needs, but a fair tweak of the overall competition - I think for the better.

PS - Sturt looking in rea danger of finishing outside the top 8. Their batting has fallen off a cliff!

A green top early that turned into a dustbowl in the afternoon - all 6 2nd innings wickets falling to spin. A couple of poor batting performances in a row have put West Torrens right back in the pack.

If Woodville can force a 3rd straight outright defeat for Prospect, they are right back in the hunt.

Tea Tree Gully 4/265 at Stumps vs Glenelg leaves all 3 results a real possibility and will have a big impact. Glenelg desperate for a win to keep in finals contention and TTG hoping to get into the top 8.

Northerns loose a wicket to a run out. Not sure what the score is…. Live scoring is stuck on 3/152. Maybe 4/175 ish?
