I love the Southerns guys. They are all awesome. I love the club and the people involved. And I like the fact they can attract different players from different areas of the world. I even like Adelaide Uni and their imports. It puts a different spin (No pun intended) on Premier cricket. I genuinely think it is great. There is nothing wrong with attracting different players and playing against them. It should be encouraged more.

Three issues though -

1. It's incredibly expensive to attract top talent and get them on the right visa.

2. If they are First Class standard (most of them are) go home early to prepare for the English summer

3. They take the spot of a junior who in turn gets the shits on and goes elsewhere.

TTG might struggle with that bowling lineup each week! Missing the pace of Oakley and experience of Evans.

Great to see them blooding some youngsters. A huge game this week against West Torrens. Must Win for both clubs.

Only early and alot can change! But East Torrens and Adel Uni looking steady, But i think its Adelaides premiership to lose at this point. Strong steady lineup across the board

Ladder
60 Adelaide
60 University
60 Kensington
60 Woodville

45 East Torrens *
45 Southern District
25 Glenelg *
25 Tea Tree Gully *
25 West Torrens
25 Port Adelaide
20 Northern Districts
20 Sturt *
0 Prospect

* had bye

Round 5
One dayers this week
Port vs Sturt - one stays in contact with the 4, one doesn't
Wdv vs East T - 4th vs 5th. Lehmann been a key.
Kens vs Uni - big game. Weatherald might get dropped from Shield team?
Northern vs Adelaide - Buffalos flying. Will win easily unless Cos makes 150
Glen vs Pros - Bays too strong
TTG vs West T - Similar scenario to Port vs Sturt game. Gullies win with bye behind them they're almost back on track.
Southerns Bye - surprise packets!

Kensington won both 1 and 2 day comps last year, clearly the best team - have lost nobody, recruited Hunt and they don't make your top 3?

Will walk it in again for mine, no weak links.

Agreed - Kensi still very strong across the board - especially now that Worrall looks like getting fit again (although history shows he might not get through the rest of the season). Adelaide do rely on Valente a lot - although good to see B Pengelley score a ton.

I reckon home grown are players who played juniors for them.

Adelaide and East Torrens with comprehensive wins.
Uni win off the last ball against Kensi.
Run feast at TTG gets the Bulls back on track.
Also wins to Sturt and Glenelg.
Southerns enjoyed the weekend off.

Competition has tightened up!

Woodville and Kensington fall back to the pack after starting 3-0. East Torrens flying - in third with the bye behind them. Gullies, Bays and Blues starting to find touch. Stingrays have surprised.

I see Brad Davis, Bailey Capel, Ben Pengelley and Bosisto all scored their second centuries of the season. Davis has been treated appallingly by SACA and surely Capel must be looked at for the 2nd X1 at least! I know Ben Pengelley has been tried before however I wouldn't be surprised if its Bosisto who gets the gig - SACA love recycled players.

Could add Smith and Winter to that.
Put time and effort into local lads, make runs in PC and you will get a chance, these blokes make runs as directed and don't seem to get a consistent look in, makes you wonder if they rate PC

Ben Pengelley has got some serious skill. He did have question marks against the short ball previously which seems to be regarded as a red flag for playing higher up whereas it doesn't get tested much at grade level. I wonder if he's improved that aspect?

Would love to see him and Page continue to pile on the runs and get rewarded.

Page not at TTG this season??

Anyone know what happened there, Perti one of the flattest tracks in the comp.

Davis just keeps scoring runs, might miss his chance as slightly older than the younger talent that is also performing and with Ferguson and Cooper hanging on longer and longer..

seems to be alot of talk about the batters, what about the bowlers? All these runs being scored must mean the bowling stocks around are thin.

Great return for Weatherald today, was probably on the chopping block and goes Bang in a big way..

Rumour Ben Turdley walked out on his $10k per year three year deal at Prospect and playing for Woodville this week!

Shows money not everything, and what a state Prospect must be in if the captain abandons the ship a third of the way into the season.

They could become "Pro$pect Univer$ity" - gets rid of the bye and gives Uni a junior zone so they don't have to pinch everyone elses!
