Just say for instance that sport (football/cricket) get the go ahead as of July/August, I wonder if the governing bodies will get together and come to a resolution.

Basically, at grassroot level the cricketing bodies will need to OK a later start to the season to allow football to have a modified season, you would think that the clubs will be all for it, whether the SACA, ATCA and smaller community associations will be accommodating, most clubs would need some footy to get some cash coming in.

Its an interesting question.

I'd guess we don't see professional sport before July, so ammos won't be before August, if it's that late, that's not enough time to get a season in of any real substance so I think a lot of leagues will be putting a line through the seasons altogether and we just commence in October with cricket.

That said, I recon October is in doubt anyway. Once restrictions start to lift there will be a second wave and every chance we go back into some form of restriction.

I suspect social sport will be one of the last things to be allowed to recommence given it has negligible economic value.

FWIW, I think the ammo's will be up and running before the AFL unless it is all played in one location, SA is streets ahead in awareness and preventative measures, the border bans wont be lifted before SA gets back to some form of normality, we'll be the guinea pig state.

Rumor has it Ingle Farm has backed a truckload of money and dumped on Matthew Cuconits and Tim Davey (Both ex TTG) doorsteps in an attempt to sign them.

The Cucontis signature would be a lot easier to obtain then Davey who might be looking forward to some summers on the golf course

Trying to think of a positive for the upcoming season "IF" it goes ahead, clubs wont be able to have Poms (or overseas players) as they wont get in the country. Certainly will affect several teams (Southerns especially) and teams will have to rely on juniors coming thru or getting players from other local clubs.

With CA continually putting out that there revenue will be considerably down we wont see much money sent to the states.
Hearing that the $55k that SACA provides to PC clubs will be coming through at a reduced rate. How many clubs rely on the this to keep afloat?
ACA money questionable as well, if so come coaching structures may reduce.

Could the 2021/22 season be played with less clubs?

Yep, certainly will be a massive hit to a lot of Clubs. Reckon the bill for cricket balls is around $20k out of that $55k. And think the ACA money is about $20k also. Few coaches may "step aside" if not getting the big coin??

Probably a good thing to be honest. Get clubs to have a fresh look at their operations and trim out the non-esssentials. Whether that's player recruitment, support coaches that are a 'nice to have' rather than a need, indoor net hire. Might be a few more club volunteers sitting on rollers.

I'd imagine Southern Districts would need to do a bit if their Poms aren't allowed back into the country!
I also wonder if Prospect will get their cheque book out again to find another "Turley"?

Think there could be major change, or coaches willing to do it for no charge.

Cricket Australia, have no money, so SACA as a result have none. This will flow onto Grade Clubs who will be $50k out of pocket at least.

Have heard CA will have no Futures League this season, so players missing out on good coin when they play these games, list sizes/rookie lists to be reduced.

Also be no Under 15 and Under 17 State carnivals, SAPSASA , etc. The only one they hope to play is the Under 19's still.

Similar to SANFL, clubs will have to strip back to the bones and hope to survive, more pressure on volunteers.

Doubt any clubs will have recruits as hard to commit when season will look so different and so up in the air.

Id like to know how CA have no money, Covid has not effected the earning capacity at all so far. Infact it probably saved them a few bucks not having the last round of the Shield and shIeld final. Notice alot of the players saying the same thing when asked about pay cuts, theyre all saying show us the books.
I appreciate they are probably trying to sure things up for next season if there is no crowds at the Test matches. But im sure their television deal with India would be huge ands especially if they get another Test over the line

It goes to show our 2 major elite level codes are poorly managed from a financial standpoint or they're bullshitting.
Players, coaches, administrators and assorted hangers on are simply overpaid!
