Thoughts on the first Shield team after Big Bash finishes?

Batters: Head, Ferguson, Lehmann

Hard to go past Cooper after a good start to the season
Persist with Weatherald?
McInerney stays in?
Kelvin Smith and Jake Winter have been killing it. Any chance?

WK: Carey and then Nielsen when Carey is away

Quicks: Sayers, Mennie, Worrall
Richardson?
Duke ball specialist Winter?

Spin: Zampa or Pope

Zampa, Richardson and Carey away with Australia tour so unavailable for first game back.

Either four quicks with Dukes ball (Sayers, Mennie, Worrall, Winter) or one gets left out for spinner (Pope or Andrews).

Easy option is to go back to top six used most of season so far (McInerney, Weatherald, Ferguson, Head, Lehmann, Cooper). Other options are Smith, Winter and Davis.

Harry Neilson will obviously be the keeper.

Second X1 game starts in Queensland tomorrow so who performs this week may come in to final selection.

Just need an umpiring controversy to decide the Port vs Eagles match this week and we'll be away

Curious to the protocol re taking off covers, home team responsibility?

I was away on weekend so only heard this second hand, but apparently the Port curator asked the Port players to come and take the covers off and they refused, stayed in change rooms mucking around. Left it to all the West Torrens players to come and do it.

Seems a pretty arrogant thing to do. Certainly fired up the Eagles boys to get the win. Heard Adelaide boys were also filthy with East Torrens for what they thought were "unsuitable covers" that left a very wet pitch, considering they had the game just about won.

Saw photos on social media of several Adelaide players on leaf blowers and super soppers drying out a couple of damp spots......no wonder they passed the score and declared!

Just put it in the memory bank for when the shoe is on the other foot.

Similar story where ET players offered no help. The comments attached to those photos were pretty scathing too, no love lost between those teams that's for sure.

Port forfeited their women's 1st Grade game. Tough season for them. I wonder if they'll be in the competition next season?

Glenelg Ds also won on forfeit vs Woodville

I wonder if it was one of those ones where a team left before the umpires arrived to officially call off the game?

Game got underway with a couple of the Peckers players "on the" way.
Got to 20 overs umpires were alerted by Peckers captain that they only had 8 players. Umps said forfeit, however both captains and umpires agreed to play out the game seeing as it had got started and players had made the effort, essentially a center wicket practice until a result was achieved. Bays agreed to supply sub fielders, two overs after the drinks break Peckers blokes said we have a couple of bowlers coming back form injury and don't want to risk them on a tacky pitch. They would of bowled if the Bays batted first

Not good that a PC club could not fill a 4th grade side.

Nick Winter sewn up his spot. Has 3/11 off five overs.

We did send them in so assume with all the rain up there pitch would be doing plenty though!!

Most of that is right. Apart from Woodville wouldn't have bowled 1st because they only 8 there which they thought was enough but umpires would have picked up that you need 9. The ninth player lobbed at drinks, but it was too late to constitute a start.
The bowler in question is coming off a serious ankle injury and the state of the wicket and foot marks was not safe.

SA Futures are 6/84

Just when there's a batting spot or two up for grabs no one puts their hand up. So disappointing. Hopefully someone gets a few in the second dig.

I'm guessing he wouldn't of bowled if they had bowled first due to the state of the wicket :o . Foot marks wouldn't of been an issue after 11 overs from each end.

Heard Andrews had to retire hurt in first innings after being hit in head by Gannon. Did not bowl in 2nd dig either.

And McInerney not batting now, looks like Dalton been sent up there to replace him, not sure what happened to Conor.

No batsman covered themselves in glory unfortunately. So disappointing. Just when there are spots up for grabs and you want someone to put their hand up.

It's why Cooper and before him Raphael get so many chances. No one forces them out of the team.

Travis Head back for the Gullies this week

Good to see

Maybe not so much for the Jets

1st 185 Kensington
2nd 150 Tea Tree Gully
3rd 140 Glenelg
4th 130 Sturt

5th 125 Adelaide
6th 120 University

Some interesting games coming up. Glenelg with the bye will likely see Sturt or Adelaide go past them. Fortunately for them it can't be both.

Should be a great match at Glandore

Can East Torrens end Uni's season?

TTG will smoke the Jets you'd think.

Round 12
TTG vs Northern Districts
Uni vs East Torrens
Adelaide vs Sturt
Prospect vs Port
Wet Torrens vs Woodville
Southerns vs Kensington
Glenelg bye

Round 13
Northerns vs Southerns
Glenelg vs TTG
Kensington vs West Torrens
Woodville vs Prospect
Port vs Adelaide
Sturt vs University
East Torrens bye

Buffalos fighting back. 7/242 now.
