Looking forward to cricket this season....
Be interesting to see any early club pick ups.... Nothing 100% confirmed yet, but at Imps we look to be gaining a few players mainly through playing football at the club....

Are Karoonda going to fall in a hole??? By the sounds could be losing a large core of their team to either retirement or moving away/playing in town. Will be interesting to see as we get closer to the season anyways

Seems to be talk every year of Karoonda losing players to either moving or retirement and it never happens....
Wouldn't be surprised to see them field a similar team to last year..

They merged with Mypo a few years ago and played under Mypo/Ramblers mainly in the juniors for a small period of time but have since dropped the Ramblers.... Monarto now play they home games at Poof Chook Park

Is that right Mr Willy, how long ago did that happen? Never remember playing against a ramblers team

Not sure how long it was since they had senior sides but we beat them in an under 14's GF which would've been 1995 I reckon...... I think they played as Mypo/Ramblers in the under 15's up until about 3 years ago still but then dropped it.... I think the merger may've happened sometime in the early 2000's...

I'd say it's been a lot longer than that since they have had senior sides, seem to remember the old man playing at chook park but my only recollection playing there was association matches as a junior besides now playing monarto there.

Yeah, can't say I remember playing any senior cricket against them..... I'm sure someone around the traps would know then they last had senior sides...

A mate who reads but doesn't post messaged me the other night and said Ramblers definitely had a C grade in 96/97... John Klingberg was captian..... and they may've had and A grade in the same season. The C Grade and Under 15s then merged with Mypo to become Mypo/Ramblers but the A grade never adpoted the name.

No worries Mr Willy. I would have guessed mid 90's. Still dont remember playing juniors against them but that could just be the memory

Went to follow up AGM last night.... Palmer are playing under 15's in MTCA.... Interesting to see if the rest of the club comes across in the years to come....
Also thoughts to play some under 15s games on Friday night and Saturday mornings to squeeze in a full draw... Apparently already done in Torrens Valley and works well... Would get a few more people along. Would be 35/40 overs on the friday night and the second lot of the game played the next morning...

Yeah the friday night sat morning games sounds good in theory. Not sure how keen parents will be as it looks like they will prob need to add 3 to 4 rounds of the fri/sat to fit into the current draw. 1 or 2 would be more preferable surely.
What wlse is happening all things MTCA. Been pretty quiet in here. Any early predictions for Grand Finalists / Favourites?
Karoonda sounds like they might drop off the pace a little bit if there outs are all confirmed.

I reckon the Friday night/Saturday morning games will work well.... Gives the parents something to do with the kids on a Friday night and I think there will be a few supporters come along as well.... Will give clubs a small fundraising opportunity as well with BBQ's and drinks. Surely 3 or 4 Friday nights during the year aren't going to put too many people out...
We have our first training tonight so be interesting to see who and what numbers are there...

Any truth to the rumour that Mannum only have half a dozen committed senior players and may have to pull their A grade?
Have already withdrawn their B grade from what I've heard.

Have definitely pulled their B gade and have heard they were struggling big time for committed players.....
Would be a pity if Mannum had to pulll out - maybe an opportunity to merge with Palmer seeing as their under 15's are playing here anyway....Had one of the best ovals I've played on last year - was in amazing condition and great for playing cricket on.
Having said that, we struggled to put together 22 players at Imps last night too - weddings, footy trip, etc. dwindled our numbers so will be a few making their debut for the club tomorrow and dragging some out of retirement for the B grade and some young kids getting their chance....
Hopefully a few of the debutants and Harrowfield's recruits hang around and play a few games....
