A good effort by the lads.
Bowled Unley out for 90 and were 7/96 overnight.
Dismissed for 100. Unley then set Trinity about 140 to win from 32 overs, but obviously all they had to do was bat for time, which they did.

Should outright results be played for in finals. During the minor round a team that wins outright (after losing on 1st innings) is declared the winner under the general Laws of Cricket. But the ATCA points system means that the true winner of the match is still the team that won on 1st innings because they ultimately receive more overall points from the match than the team that wins outright.

I'm not suggesting that the outright winner should receive anymore than 5 points in the minor round because the ultimate goal is to achieve a 1st innings win and I'm quite alright with minor round matches continuing after a 1st innings result is achieved for the sake of bonus points and blokes getting a decent bat or bowl. However, I'm not sure if a final should be allowed to continue beyond a 1st innings result regardless of how early the game is over because it can often turn into a circus.

Interesting.

It's odd that outright points are less than first innings. I suppose it is a way to stop teams doing sporting declarations to play for more points. But I think Outright should result in greater points than first innings as a rule.

Definitely believe it should be considered still in finals. Does open up other parts of the game like playing for time. But you see teams do that in test cricket as well.

I have seen in other comps they make the Grand final a 3 day game which opens up more to think about.

Outright wins in finals is imperitive.

Its 80 overs each so if you take 20 wickets for 1 more run than the opposition, well done to you.

If you get a dodgy wicket on day 1 because of weather or whatever. and get skittled cheaply in bugger all overs, then you skittle the oppostion similarly, and theres heaps of overs to go, do you just walk off?

Naaaaah! Game on.

Captains must agree to call it off after a first innings result. Get rolled for stuff all and them bowl them out for a miniscule lead, off course you play the game out the opposition might collapse under the pressure....

While you coul classifiy him as a slogger, he would score most his runs over long orff and long on..... very rarely went across the line!

Definetly a slogger, but the dangerous hit straight type of slogger. Smashed in one innings one day. But next time had him caught cheap in the gully.
It was hiking!!!!
