Which is very poor form by the clubs, every year we seem to be playing less matches and then they complain come finals time about opposition supporters bringing their own drinks.....

Not hard to apply for Recreation and Sport office grants.

Covers are a nightmare.
Getting blokes to get them on is OK but getting them off on a windy day alone is bloody dangerous.
Everyone's at work during the day so if there's a window in the weather to prep during working hours they don't come off.

There are alternative options to the traditional tarps.....

Yes there is but way too expensive but storage is a big problem.

Still anytime its windy you still need a posse of blokes to get them on and off.

I agree, teams with covers will, but ATCA will call off week 1 before Saturday regardless.

Why will they call it off before saturday? What are the rules around that?
That hardly encourages clubs to get covers. They are not that expensive, alot of clubs in the ATCA dont seem to have a problem paying players, surely they can afford covers. Good luck to the clubs with covers and who go to the trouble of keepoing their pitch dry, why penalize them by calling games off?

I fully understand that, but you have no hope of using them if you dont have them. It still makes no sense that all clubs dont have them

Actually how you've tabled it would work pretty well.

Not looking good for this week. Just had a look at Rowe Park (A1), Ingle Farm Primary (LO5) and Para Hills (SACA C/D) and all three were underwater with plenty of rain on the way. None of these pitches are covered. Tigerpie, how's your pitch looking. Looks like you'll be getting a fair proportion of the 15mm tomorrow. Any chance?

Fingers crossed it stays that way for a while!

Would be highly unlikely you’d think.. grounds aren’t normally prepared on Monday/Tuesday and left under covers.. turf wickets will be worse off under a cover for 3 days..

Hopefully atca and clubs do the right thing today, and make the round a one dayer

Its still raining down south here.
A few soft tops tomorrow.
I think they'll have to call it a one Dayer next week.
