I watch this space with great interest.

Pirates have forfeited tomorrow's B Grade game already
How many forfits is that for the season for them? Four?

He's an older fella giving some kids senior experience and he is the skipper, although I had a run in with him last season he's a good bloke with plenty of passion for his club and the juniors out there.

I see no problem at all, his E Grade team are sitting 3rd, their D's are top, C's are 4th, B's are top and A's 3rd, it's not like he's needed to play higher and I'd rather a batsman playing under his par grade than a quick bowler destroying kids or social players.

Yeah, whilst its a little bit shit like you said its not like their other teams are winless bottom while he dominates their lowest grade.

Your'e never going to get grades perfect and at least from what i understand this bloke has 'served his time' playing higher grade cricket.

As you also said it would be much worse if he was a super quick bouncing kids etc.

At the end of the day even if you wanted to there are going to be some blokes who do this.

I have more of an issue with whole groups of players who go around club hopping as a mini team finding clubs that allow them to sit in lower grades.

Yeah, I got hit up a few times when I was running a club, I'd just say that they are welcome but they will be filtered through the grades in accordance to team balance and performances.

I copped some nasties because of it.

Whilst doesn’t bother me who plays where.. I do think he’s taking the piss a bit.

Reasons are all noble as pointed out, but if your genuine aim was to help nurture and develop kids then wouldn’t you be giving them greater opportunity? Is there a need to bat 4 all year and crunch 100 after 100 - especially against sides like Craigmore, Virginia and Angle Vale who are relatively young sides themselves.

Each to their own though.

Each season there would be examples of players playing well below their grade - hell our club has constant issues with the same thing.

I'm just jealous as there isn't a grade low enough for me to prosper like this.

Sadly we still have a few blokes who have big games in these grades who come back and strut around like peacocks thinking they’re king dick, laugh and ridicule our A grade on performance.. love to just slap them in the face it apparently you can’t do that these days.

Yeah you are right in that sense of batting 4 week in week out, i didn't think of it like that but it makes it hard to justify the 'i'm just nurturing the young kids' when that happens.

Just a lazy 171 in a one dayer last week along with some pretty impressive bowling figures throughout the year.

A's: Grade 2 (6th)
B's: Grade 4 (5th)
C's: Grade 8 (top)

Hmmmm.

Every club experiences it, especially when you have straight out One Day teams.

Re-enactment of selection night season opener:
Dude: "Hey mate, I'm only available this week so it's best if I play in the C's"
Me: "That's a shame, could do with you in the A's"

Week Two:
Dude: "I'm not working this week now, I should be right to play in the C's again"

Week Three:
Doesn't train, gets named in the C's just incase, no ones heard from him, good mates with the C's skipper who has a back up plan.

Dude rocks up to the club after scoring 80 and taking 4fa becasue he'll probably get an award, he'll definitely get 5 schooners for his 50+, dude says "I'm not sure if I'm available every week, I've gotta take the overtime when it's there coz Christmas is coming up and I just wanna play one dayers"

Round 5 hits, you hit dude up to play in the A's as all grades now play the next 7 rounds of one dayers and then all the excuses come out again and then you don't see him at training for all this time, but he wont mind messaging you to say he's available in the A Grade T20 on the Sunday if needed.

Presentation night he rocks up suave as to collect his C Grade batting, bowling and fielding awards and begins to tell all the A Graders that he wants to play A's the next season and give it his best shot.

Next season, copy and paste.

Agree about the Suttons but in fairness to Gaz he has most certainly served his time.

Jacob is pretty genuine though. His body has struggled to hold up for a long time now and he just needs a year where he can be picked and if after a couple of overs the body isnt right he can just not bowl and play as a batter etc.

Ive never seen Jacob bat above 10 in any A or B grade side i have played with him in so that score shocked me.

You can read them like a book mate, I may have sometimes forgotten to order certain trophies or left them in the car by accident, we've had some perennials over the years, it's club dividing stuff.

Hey Bedgey, I'm only available week one if you can guarantee we bowl first and I can field first slip all day.
