What a game lol.. officially THE WORST game I've ever been involved in haha! Don't think I've gotten over it still lol!

Wright took off to the shops after he got out, Brooks took off to Pt Augusta for a birthday when he got out, Wickham had a big night and took off home when he got home - I was frantically trying to find scorers/umpires as wickets tumbled, ran out to bat carrying my gear under my arm and then padded up.

Turned to the umpire, took a deep breath asked "umm how many overs been bowled?" .... "7.4 bedge"

Dunny had figures of like 5/3 off 3.4 overs a that stage haha!

Only 5/26 off 15 - but there was a season I took a lot of 2 or 3 wicket hauls for not many runs, which I kind of preferred haha.

I'm guessing yours is something stupid good?

Time to toot my own horn lol

Broke my ribs in the semi finals thanks to an extravagant Gary Sutton wicket celebration (Alex Tuckwell for a duck, first wicket of the game) we won the semi and into the GF.

In the GF got a duck but we hit 200+. Thought it was in the bag.

Dublin started brilliantly. I came on and in my first over they took a comfortable single to which the batsmen went straight through me with an outstretched elbow straight into my ribs as he went past me. I almost lost the plot as the old Eastern Park in me came out.

Ended up taking 4/39 off 17 straight overs. Destroying their middle order 3,4,5,6 including their captain who I had a few battles with, and then the big wicket of Troy Scott when they were 5/153 chasing 211.

The week before the finals my now ex wife left me and my dad was in hospital after having an drug overdose. The Atco lads and entire club looked after me during that period being there for me in many different ways. If it wasn't for them I think I was in serious trouble of losing the plot. Too see people like Jon Ralph, Gary Sutton, Craig Dantonio, Terry & Sheila Hayes in tears, club legends like Budge, Ozzy and BT over the moon coz of a premiership, was my way of repaying the club for how they helped me.

Because of that I will never play for any other PDCA club than Atco if im ever back there.

For some reason your link wasn't coming up? But yes, brilliant performance and result. :partyman:

Did well as a side to scrape to 211 given you were 8/123!

Yeah I love GF history and how things are remembered over time. I have always thought I made a duck but apparently I made 3, I still believe I got out in the first over but maybe I didn't. I remember being gutted coz I came of a 60 odd not out in the semi against EP so I thought I was invincible lol.

The L Haynes in the team is a bit of cult legend at Atco. His my best mate who I also work with and got him out to play that year. It got to the last game of the minor round and he had barely hit a run all year but had a real solid technique, could keep and was a gun in the field. A spot became available because of injury, we identified we had a week link in our fielding, we literally had 7 blokes who couldn't throw a cricket ball. It was mentioned to him that if willing he would be picked as a fielder (all our A grade batsmen were settled in their spots and hitting runs) and potentially end up being a premiership player.

In the GF he made 5. It was a horrible looking innings but he batter for 15 overs which was 10 over before and 5 overs after the tea break. Once he got out Gary Sutton came in 15 overs later than it could have been and went bang hitting 40 off about 25 balls and changing the innings.

We all stand by that 5 runs and 15 over Locky Haynes, his longest innings for the year was the Atco version off Shane Ellen. Played 3 games for the club, won a premiership and has never been seen at the club since. He is the 'WHO' of all those premiership photos.
