There will be some embarrassing scores and inflated stats in LO1 with that North Pines lineup playing on a primary school Oval all season.

Vic Bach will be very handy addition to the CULT, kept 40overs and batted for 22 overs for the LO1 B side saturday.

At this stage she may not be playing pulled up with a bad knee after mens on Saturday

Absolutely,

The competition isn't going to improve if teams start sooking and refuse to play the best side.

Get out there, enjoy the little wins such as improving each time you play them (taking more wickets, hitting more runs), enjoy individual success such as a 'great catch' 'great shot' 'maiden over' etc and have a laugh at the comical moments.

The teams that play Eyre Royals will only improve and hopefully take that into their next match when the opposition becomes much easier.

Forgot to do the LO1 tips for the weekend but funnily enough i wouldve tipped all the winners.

Also good to get a win up after last weeks shamozzle. Think we may be a bit up and down. Played with 6 junior burgers in the team on the weekend and looks like it is the way we will be this year.

Have never played units in a game of cricket but youd have to think their A grade along with Vista, Snorf, and Pines will be the top 4.

Good effort by North Pines. A few years ago they didnt seem to have much depth in the grades but they look like theyre flying now.

Bottom 4 in order Twells, Units B, GrandMasters, Modbury.

This is why we don’t do LO grades with tips :P

Congrats on the weekend though and fair summation of the grade would think you’re pretty spot on.

Been said before but North Pines are by far the most improved club in recent years - 5 strong sides in the men’s.

Hate to break it to the women’s teams but every single season every single year there will be a ‘top’ side and a ‘bottom’ side

Mate it isn't quite the way you see it, Eyre Royals have been miles ahead of the pack for some time, they often smashed teams to ridiculous levels bowling them out for under 10 then smashing 0/200+.
A few years back they lost their top tier players and moist of the B Grade had to step up and play A's, to their credit they are all still there and have improved dramatically and are valuable members of the team now.
They used to prosper by having district players play for them, not so much anymore though, they have a few very talented players that could play much higher but at the end of the day they are a tight knit group who enjoy playing together.
The problem is that the PDCA and member clubs try and promote womens cricket at a community level and the massive gap in skill level between teams/players scares a lot off, would you like your 12 year old daughter facing someone quick enough to open the bowling in A Grade district?
There is no right or wrong, it used to be A Grade (mainly established players and a maximum of two district players), this was always a pretty good standard, the B Grade was ok with a mixture of newbies, older ladies and part timers then the C Grade was predominantly newbies.
I am somewhat baffled at the programming, Sandy Creek finished bottom of Grade 2 last year and quite often forfeited and the back half of the season and they have been promoted to Grade 1, Smithfield lost the semi in Grade 3 and have been promoted to Grade 1 despite losing their 4 best players for this season, they have been replaced with brand newies, they will not enjoy finishing work on a Monday to rush off to cricket where they will get their arses handed to them.
The format wasn't broken so it didn't need fixing, there are many other solutions to appease all players of varying skill levels, yes there are always winners and losers but it is a community level sport and participation needs to be encouraged.

Those sides who lost should just refuse to play, seems to be the way things are done these days.

I've tried dont worry!

Harsh on the women though, as we were a new side last year I know where some of these girls are coming from and the challenges they face. Last year all our girls were out for enjoyment and improvement - winning wasn't a factor (didnt win anyway haha) - but playing Dani Saint in Grade 3, she was a very good cricketer, and it's more than disheartening for the girls plus honestly a lot were actually scared to face her.. you're talking about new girls to the game, some as young as 11 or 12, just learning and developing. You cop the losses but playing well outside your ability is not encouraging for anyone.

The skill level of some of the women would be comparable to U10 boys.. so ask yourself do you think your 10yr old daughter facing a grown man steaming in off the long run is good for development or interest?

You have to forfeit your lowest grade first.

On a side note, Sandy Creek forfeited their women's game tonight, I think there's an emergency meeting as well to sort through it.

Vic Bach will be very handy addition to the CULT, kept 40overs and batted for 22 overs for the LO1 B side saturday.

Its not be we have all been on the end of beltings. I remember losing outright in a day, i remember only a couple of years ago OTH hitting us for 500. It happens.

Unless your going to ban Eyre for being to good someone has to play them, there is no other choice. I think PDCA have done the right thing by making sure teams only play them the once a season.

Go and watch a game or two, there were 3 grades last season, there was no need to change it, and to go 10-6 was just as daft, 8-8 would've made far more sense and been more even, there's a promotion/relegation system for a reason, the PDCA have failed on this one.

Of course you suffer beltings from time to time, but do you think brand new players are going to enjoy themselves getting belted week in week out?

It's the quickest way for the newbies to never play the game again.
