Will he commit though? How long since he’s played?

A few years since he played but definitely committed, life has been up for him in most of recent of times.

His bowling action is so simple, he will get back into the swing pretty easy I would think

Don’t believe he will be the last of the ex EP lads to come across with Knoxy being coach.

In fairness to EP none would make their best eleven apart from Franky but will be handy div2 players.

Any idea when fixtures are coming out? Season starting this Saturday? Or the next?

Starts this Saturday, I suspect fixtures will be out by tomorrow night at the latest.

Not ideal, but I believe there have been a lot of changes in Grade 1, sides in then out and a lot of reshuffling, the draft fixture was only finalised over the weekend

Add in Grade 1 is 6 teams but PDCA committee didn’t want to compromise a 14 round fixture means a lot of juggling to get a fair draw.

Not ideal as you said but better they wait to the last minute than release a fixture only to have to scrap it and change leaving multiple fixtures floating around.

In most cases teams wont have much of a travel time so if you know your playing it shouldn't affect you to much.

It's the best of a bad situation.

Fixture has never really bothered me - there is very little value in knowing weeks out what the draw is. We know we play Saturday, that's what we prepare for, only interesting points are whether we are home or away and who we are playing, but generally you know which clubs are likely in your grade anyway and as you pointed out the travel time to most places is stuff all anyway.

If anything, perhaps PDCA could've published the round one games only then worked on the rest in the background.

Not quite as easy as that given the draw algorithm's that match clubs A and B teams to not have oval clashes.

It is a logistical nightmare for Pete, he'd still be getting calls and emails today of teams pulling out or entering an extra side, I'm sure he's had the blueprint ready to send but would rather wait and get it right.

The juniors and womens are generally a dogs breakfast for the first few rounds too.

We pretty much know what teams will be in Div 1. Who is everyones tips?

For mine i think the time is right for EP, provided they can keep Benny McMullen. They would have learnt a lot from last year, and being a younger side will only improve.

Salisbury West have far too much quality and will play finals, in which their experience will count for plenty.

Virginia have lost Shaun Lay and surely at some point the old boys have to start declining.

Angle Vale should be consistent as always and i would be surprised if they didnt make the four either.

1. Eastern Park
2. Salisbury West
3. Angle Vale
4. North East Knights
5. Virginia
6. Parafield Gardens

I suspect there may be a fair gap between the top 3 and the bottom 3.

Being that it is 6 teams which i think is a good move would you consider a new finals format.

With only 6 teams it's almost every team wins a prize and if one of them is terrible than the final race may be very boring very quick.

The comp i play in we do the old school SANFL system but with only (4 teams)

Week 1
3 v 4- Elimination Final- Loser Out
1 v 2- Winner straight into GF

Week 2
Winner of 3v4 versus loser of 1v2- winner into GF

Week 3
Grand Final

What this means is not only the top 4 a goal but the top 2 spots become extremely valuable with the double chance on offer, more than just a home GF (which in PDCA alot of clubs prefer playing away, not set up/pack down etc.

I found it has added an extra interest in the finals race once the top 4 is done and dusted.

Who the hell are the Grand Masters?

Hats off to Dublin for having A's and B's, both playing two dayers.

Salisbury North taking the piss and putting two one day teams in.

Units with two teams in the same grade????? Surely that's a mistake.

3 clubs with 5 teams, a few with 4 teams, well done to those clubs.

Salisbury North taking the piss and putting two one day teams in. No different to Para Vista

Units with two teams in the same grade????? Surely that's a mistake. Nope, given they're effectively dropping from Grade 1, they're only allowed a certain amount of "A graders" in a team, and they must play at the highest one day grade, therefore they're both in the same division. Means they cant load up one side.

3 clubs with 5 teams, a few with 4 teams, well done to those clubs.

Typical Salisbury North....can't stand them. Use to be a club I had so much respect for as a youngster coming into seniors playing against Carperteri, Johnston, Jossy, DMc, Bully etc.

Central United are piss weak as well!!
