Exactly right, reckon around 2002 was when it began going pear shaped. Lets take a trip down memory lane..

2002 - Discussion began about merging with ICCA
St Matthews were disbanded due to a directive from the church that there were insufficient church attending players.
Croydon removed their B grade
Central Mission removed their C grade
Para Vista removed their D grade.

2003 - Discussions about merging with ICCA increased
Concordia OC went back to ATCA
Tea Tree Gully folded (Div 1 semi finalist season before)
Blackwood removed their B grade

2004 - Finally merged with ICCA, with 4x clubs - 10x teams joining.
Rose Park joined from ICCA (3x teams)
North Eastern Knights joined from ICCA (2x teams)
Fitzroy joined from ICCA (3x teams) - went on to win the Division 2 and Division 5 premierships.
Ross Smith Tigers joined from ICCA (2x teams) - went on to win the Divsion 1 premiership.
Pedare Uniting folded
Marion Apostolic folded
Marion C of C removed their B grade
Central Mission removed their B grade
There were 8x forfeits over the season, with Betania and Rose Park 'C' struggling consistently for numbers.

2005
Wingfield Royals reformed and joined - went on to win the Division 4 premiership.

2006
Marion C of C folded
Croydon folded after being in the comp since 1935/36
Happy Valley went to ASCA or HCA (I think?)
Wingfield removed their B grade
Eastside/Modbury removed their B grade
Seaton joined from ASCA
New Club Western XI Knights were formed (mostly Fitzroy players)
Wayne Burdett aged 26 passed away in the field for Enfield 13 overs into the innings, after making 117 earlier in the match. RIP Wayne
(I still have mates who have refused to play a game since that day)
Zartan led the U21's and almost pulled off the upset of the CUSA cup season against ATCA. Shane Scudds his 80 odd off half as many balls to prove the difference as C&CCA made 234 in reply to ATCA 274. Also will add that Zartan had Scudds dropped twice off his bowling - once from the retarded keeper (who Goat Herder would later select in the Nationals side). Sean Phillips also went for 52 off 3 overs as Scudds pounded him for 5x 6's in an over
Was also the year Zartan proved everyone gets lucky occasionally and broke the hearts of SA Red at the Championships ;) )

2007
Paralowie joined the competition - I was so lucky to face them first up.. When Shannon Soltan casually smoked the first ball of the innings off Adam Gully for 6, I realised we were probably in for a long day.. Soltan went shortly after, Aaron Frith followed, then Mark Frith and Shaun Holland batted most of the day, scoring 100's each as Paralowie made 320 from memory? Next week, half their team was on a footy trip, and Hendo bowled pretty much all day from one end, and bowled me around my legs  Think Aaron Frith took 4 or 5 wickets too

Paralowie also won the premiership without a ball being bowled over the 4x weeks of finals - Betania forfeited the SF, and the GF was heated out.

Northern Wolves joined the competition
Blackwood went to ASCA
Ross Smith Tigers folded
Wingfield Royals folded
Para Vista removed their B grade
Western XI Knights removed their C grade
Eastside removed their B grade

Northern Wolves: LOL.

We played them one day and when I got the book back off of them from their batting innings their number 11 was listed as "Guy from the nets"

There was a couple of lads playing cricket in the nets next to their oval and they must of got one of them to pad up for them.

Michael Feist (who literally kept the club alive and operating this year) is heading back to play at Grange.

Lleyton Hedges and Daniel Polanski want to play in a different comp, and have flagged PDCA as their destination of choice.

Brad Stidolph is enjoying parenthood for the first time, and recently engaged - he only played 5x minor round matches which included 3x one dayers, cant see his commitment increasing next year, particularly if all his mates have moved on.

That's majority of their Grand Final side gone - and they only had one team.

They'd be more than welcome to come over to the Knights... ;) :D

It's a shame when any club folds, but more so when you recall having some fierce battles with them over the years.

They're very much a shadow of their former self when the likes of Domanski, Brame, Koop, Rogers, Heanes were playing.

Shame the footy club showed very little interest or provided more support.

Officially, we will vote on it at our AGM on Sunday, but the consensus is that we will probably seek to join PDCA.

So the latest i'm hearing is..

Comp will press on next year - still no office bearers but that'll come i guess.

Likely 12x teams (2x Divs of 6 teams).

Gone
North Eastern Knights (PDCA)
Fitzroy (ASCA)
Adelaide Lutheran 'A' (ATCA)
Seaton (Folded)

Remaining
Enfield 'A' & 'B'
Desi Avengers
Adelaide Lutheran 'B' & 'C'
Rose Park 'A' & 'B' - Although have an AGM in the coming weeks, and will decide between C&CCA and TVCA.
Magill Morialta
Para Vista 'A' & 'B'
Never2Late

Unknown
Athelstone

Comp would look something like this at a guess:

Division 1
Adelaide Lutheran 'B'
Desi Avengers 'A'
Enfield 'A'
Never2Late 'A'
Para Vista 'A'
Rose Park 'A'

Division 2
Adelaide Lutheran 'C'
Enfield 'B'
Magill - Morialta
Para Vista 'B'
Rose Park 'B'
and either Desi Avengers 'B', Athelstone 'A' or Enfield 'C' (at a guess)

Should the clubs bite the bullet and wrap things up? All find new homes. Feels like a half measure. Would be difficult to find people enthusiastic about running things, organising umpires etc if clubs were already half out the door

I suspect it's the die hards who still are holding on for dear life.

For instance Rob Turner (Enfield), his granddad founded the club 90 years ago, his dad Gordon is a club/assoc legend and Rob literally was born into Enfield and been around the club for 60 years.. a lot of sentimental value that is hard to let go.

Ian Amey, Ian Kinsman, Brenton May, Marc Cossens - all people who have had lengthy involvement in the comp, had family play as well, some go back 50yrs involvement.

Enfield have always said they'd remain committed to supporting the comp as long as their was one considering been apart for 90yrs, Desi are a throw together side of Indians who like the convenience and Never2Late are an Indian side as well who are in their infancy as a club - so C&CCA is ideal for them.

Magill is on its last legs still, i doubt they'll survive a move to another competition, so are just dying a slow death.
