Agree it has a shocking shape, but when you play on ovals like Mt Barker or Kersbrook, it is a little slice of heaven. They are that bad

Best grounds i played on, Adelaide Oval best by a street, Woodville oval and best suburban oval would be at Kilburn.
Worst, Eastern Park, Glenelg back in 70's (stank),and Gaza.
Saw Kilburn again last year and the place is the best I have seen in association footy (Oval gym, lights). Got me how they have done it!

Royce, since you've been away they have made very good friends with a person whose surname is "Grant"

The Christian name varies a bit; Council Grant, Government Grant ,FBT Grant, they have all had their moment of glory helping Kilburn.

Yes Royce or oval is looking nice at the moment. Before Christmas the grass was too green and spongy and although it looked great it was like running in sand. It has been cut a bit shorter now and has a couple of tinges of yellow.

The gym is a community one and everyone can use it. There are heaps of the new immigrants around the area using it(far more than footballers) and hopefully it helps people in the local community to get to know eachother.

I must say the PAEC are doing a great job with their ovals, Ram Park is in tip top nick.

Of the other GSFL Ovals
Goolwa, Encounter bay, Strath and McLaren are at least as good as Yank with a lot better parking and more central
Langhornes and Victor not too bad

Compass is shockingly uneven, Pongy is a cow paddock at best, Willunga is Ok if you have one leg shorter than the other, with a great little stand and a very good side

South Adelaide / Hickenbotham oval was a bloody nice oval to run around on over the weekend after running on an "almost" concret oval all preseason!

In APFL
Best- Mallala, grass is always in prestine condition. Very well maintained.
Worst- Hamley Bridge, not much grass, ground like concrete, protruding sprinklers.

Yankalillas a BOG hole over Winter - Worst Oval in Great Southern,
Use to be Myponga, played at Myponga in a Foot of Mud ALLOVER in the late80's,
they spent $250,000 grand on it in the 90's - real good now.

Encounter Bay best oval ever - Only showdown outside Footy park. (Port v Crows)
South play Redlegs their this week.

Didn't I read somewhere that South and NFC were talking about NOT playing there due to the condition of the oval?

BTW - nothing wrong with Yank Oval - just like most other ovals in winter
