There was a good article on them in the sunday mail a couple of weeks ago, it debunked the testing for them by claiming the improvement in stetching and balance came from the minds ability to repeat the first test better, not because your wearing the band. either way if a person thinks it improves them then why not wear one, its hardly an expensive investment for improved performance.

did they try every combination and use "placebo" bands?

did they use an actual power band in a first test, then repeat the test again without it?

Dont really remember the specifics just that the article thought it might of been another fad, im certainly not qualified to give an opinion one way or the other! I few of our players wear them.

They are just a placebo... you put it on, your mind is thinking about better balance, therefore you mind encourages better balance.

I have these pills man, and if you take them you won't tire out as quickly. They're called Tictacs! $5 for 10 yeh.

The only thing that annoy me more than these bands are the people that swear by them.

The issue is that the the most stringent and respected scientific protocol can be applied to see if they really do work but no one has done it. Not even the company that makes them!!! A double blind randomised control trial would be so easy to perform and it would give everyone a definitive answer. But Powerband wont do it because more than likley they will be found out as frauds!!!

just my views

carey, how can you be so against skins (which are scientifically proven) and then spend $60 on a piece of elastic which has no evidence of it working?

I can vouch they work I did a test a my place having a bbq on a sunday afternoon. One of my mates said let me where it and see what I think, I handed it over then walked to my fridge to get another beer. As it happens I fell flat on my bum in the kitchen. Admittingly I had a few beers in the tank but it proved that I was unstable on my feet without it as I did not fall over earlier getting a beer.
