Must have collected more kicks than you ;)

Baziiiinga! 8)

Shrek, please talk to me once you've done your research & actually know who Narelle is and her qualifications... But , thank you for taking such an interest in women's footy. Your support is greatly appreciated ;)

I wouldn't have a clue who she is but in fairness to big shrek the position your in means your not going to say anything but ultra positive things about the appointment.

If only he was able to point his point across like you :) I completely hear what you are saying, and you are correct. In saying that Rell has worked her way up through the ranks and is now in a position that I can comfortably state that she is the best for the job. The best male coach will never be the best women's coach without experience coaching women. Snowey & Kluey are there to learn off Rell, as she will also learn off of them. I hope this clears up this 'issue' that clearly isn't an issue :D

We are very lucky & fortunate to have to coaching panel that we do... Each to their own, but haters gon' hate 8)

Thank you muchly whufc :D

Trust me, you’re not the only one who is disappointed. Charlea is such an all round superstar that her talent is currently leaning her towards basketball; as she has been told that she has the potential to make it overseas. Unfortunately footy can’t compete with that… just yet ;)

Footy Smart- You’d be happy to know that Modbury is now represented at the Talent Academy. The Captain of the Modbury ladies, Sharon Taylor has been included after a stint on the sidelines with an Achilles injury.

Are any budding photographers out there?
Does anyone love to get involved in footy in anyway they can?
Does anyone want a FREE trip to New Zealand?

If you answered yes to any of the above then i highly suggest you take a look at this competition.

Image

To enter all you need to do is take a photo of girls enjoying themselves playing our great game. We don't need the fancy skills, we want the raw enjoyment and smiles on their faces. It's as simple as that. If you have girls playing at your clubs, or girls involved in your auskick than what better way to get your club colours out there too.

Last night Women's Footy made history!

Melbourne FC & Western Bulldogs FC became the first two AFL teams to take part in the Women's AFL Draft.

A Women's game between the two teams will take part at the MCG on the 29th June during AFL Women's Round, before their male counterparts take the field.

Female Footballers from across the country nominated for the draft, and last night the two AFL clubs drafted 50 players. Victoria's Daisy Pearce took out the No.1 Draft Pick by Melbourne FC.

The most exciting of all... South Australia had THREE draft picks;

Pick No.38 to Western Bulldogs FC: Courtney Cramey (Morphettville Park FC). Courtney plays in the midfield for Morphetville Park Women’s football Club and has represented South Australia at the last two AFL Women’s National Championships. At the 2011 Nationals in Adelaide she was selected into the All Australian Team. From there she was selected for the AFL Female High Performance Academy last year and is part of our Female Talent Academy.

Pick No.47 to Melbourne FC: Alexandra Price (Port Adelaide FC). At 17 years of age, Alexandra is one of the youngest Draft picks and a future star of the game. She plays as a tall forward who's skill and game sense belie her age. Last season at the age of 16 Alex won the Port Adelaide Women’s best and fairest, was awarded the trophy as the best U18 player in the SAWFL and was runner up in the League goal kicking. At last weeks U18 Youth Girls National Championships she was selected as a Half Forward Flank for the All Australian Team.

Pick No.49 to Melbourne FC: Bronwyn Davey (Greenacres FC). Bronny is the older sister of Melbourne Star Aaron Davey and Essendon Alwyn Davey and was drafted under the family ruling. Bronny currently plays with the Greenacres Women’s Football Club where she plays in the backline and midfield displaying the same evasive skills as her well known brothers. Bronny loves her football so much so that in the off season she travelled to Darwin to play football with other family members.

Good question Brodlach. I had to look this up as i'd never heard of them before this... but it turns out in my line of work i probably should've known who they are, haha.

They have been undefeated in the Women's 'Premier' Victorian League for many years, taking out titles in both the Premier & Reserve teams since early to mid 2000's. Fair call that they had so many drafted, but perhaps they should share with other teams... maybe even teams over the border 8)

Each league is different so it's depends on the situation, however AFL policy states;

"This policy strongly recommends that youth girls aged 13 and 14 years participate in a structured youth girls competition. However, if there is no youth girls competition available the following applies:

- In accordance with the Sex Discrimination Act 1984 people aged under 12 years of age cannot be excluded on the basis of sex or gender identity from participating in a competitive sporting activity; and
- Pursuant to section 42(1) of the Act, people of one gender aged 12 and over can be excluded from participating in competitive sporting activities in which the strength, stamina and physique of competitors is relevant.

If no youth or senior female football competition is available for a female player who turns 14 years by January 1 in the year of play, that female player may apply to play down an age level should she meet the criteria outlined with respect to such an exemption. If a senior female competition is available for a female player who turns 14 by January 1 in the year of play, however that female player is not ready to progress to senior football, she may apply to play down an age level should she meet the criteria outlined for such an exemption. In our league they are able to play in the Under 14. If they are in the Under 15 category they get an automatic permit to continue playing in the 14's for an extra season.
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

Yep, in my 14's side that I coached 3 seasons ago I had 2 girls that were overage in my team. One of them was pretty well developed, but it didn't seem to matter as the majority of the team was made up of 11 year olds so it was never an issue.
