Postby kicks.like.a.girl » Thu Feb 24, 2011 4:06 pm

ATTENTION EVERYONE!!! :D

The SAWFL is extremely pleased to announce the entry of a new addition to the Women's League... MODBURY FC!!!

With the success of the seniors and juniors in the men’s side of the game... and then with the great success of their U16 Girls last year, it only makes sense to add a Women's Team to the club.

Now that you are all as excited as I am ( ) lets get this show on the road! We need your help to find the ladies to put this team on the park.

If you know any females at all that may be interested in playing please let her know about this... Wives/ Girlfriends/ Sister/ Mothers/ Cousins/ Friends... anyone

Info/rego Night: 17th March

Time: 5pm onwards

Where: Modbury FC (Corner of Golden Grove & Hazel Grove, Ridgehaven)

At this stage the first training will be on Wednesday the 23rd of March.

If anyone from Modbury finds any other details and wants to add them, please do :-)

I watched our Modbury U16's team a bit last year and was actually very impressed with there skills. Not to mention they pull a decent crowd.

They have been getting about 15-20 out to preseason training which is great signs.

Excellent signs for our club.

How far south are you thinking?

Morphettville Park FC has a Women's team. Will be pretty hard to crack into the SFL for a junior girls comp though.

could run a junior comp with some of the girls in that area in grades 13's and 16's to start maybe and then expand with another senior team eventually.

Don't worry bluedemon buddy, that's the plan :D

I came across a little hurdle in the process a couple of weeks ago, so it may not happen as quickly as i would've liked... but it will happen!

Much like this new Modbury team, it has been in my thoughts and plans for a while now... and now look at Modbury :d

Six teams in the league now, that's fantastic! Looking forward to coming out for a few games this year, although I think my playing days may be over unless the physio gives me the nod. :)

Look out for an Article in the Advertiser re womens football in SA. They were at MFC last night taking photos.

Great work by Julie who is running the show re the womens team at MFC and they will no doubt add to the strong culture of the club.

Mickey, I hear your suggestion and will keep it in mind... however, we are fighting for equality in the football community, so i think that rule can only be brought in once the following uniform adjustments are made for the men...

Image

*I'm not sure about the run and hide smiley... but i won't be needing it unless these uniform changes become a reality :))

Anyhoo, speaking of uniforms... i just wanted to give JS Sports their usual plug from me. The work they do for the Women's League really is amazing, and their support towards the Academy and State Teams is greatly appreciated :d

Just what are they doing out of the kitchen and the bedroom. Should not be allowed this Women's footy. Back to making the sandwiches and being in the canteen at the club. They are even running water and strapping ankles at some clubs now.........geez what is it coming to.
