Hi guys, thanks to SA Footy admin for letting me link these yarns.

I'm contributing to Country Footy SA this season and hoping to write about Football People from all over the state.
Let me know, if you can think of a person who should have their footy story told.

This first story is on well known comedian Lehmo and his recollections of his days with the Brown's Well Bombers in the Riverland's Independent football competition.

Latest piece up:

http://www.countryfooty.com.au/FootballPeople.htm

This week's piece looks at the impact of SA country bred footballers on the first round of the AFL.
Also features links to videos of Luke Tapscott, on debut for Melbourne, and find out about Freo's matchwinning Michael Walters' links to the country.

Nice story there DW, but I feel that the biggest story in the AFL this week involving a Country SA product would surely be Boris Enright's 200th game.

That being said, I do think that having these weekly stories is a great improvement on the site and look forward to more.

MC, when did he play that mate?
Be disappointed if I missed it in this week.
He was someone I was keen to chase for an interview and a story.

Dammit, it was Friday night.
I missed that news on Friday night, was at a wedding, otherwise would've watched the game.
Oh well, always going to miss something when you do a yarn like this.

Enjoyed the series so far. Maybe a retrospective piece on Enright is on the cards?

Maybe, I was just commenting that I thought Boris missed out considering the piece was about acheivements in the AFL this week by Country SA footballers.

Personally, I would prefer to read about people that you don't know and aren't usually in the spotlight. I know these people would be hard work to interview because they don't do it for any recognition at all.

Out of all the articles in the Country Footy liftout the one I enjoyed most was the Southern Flinders? article. I couldn't give a rats toss bag about Thurstans playing for Keith or Ladhams playing for whoever. We all know the real rea$on$ they are playing there.

Same as last year, I felt the Keith Earl story was brilliant, but again couldn't really give a stuff about the Nigel Fiegert article or the small Peter Burgoyne one.

Just my opinion though.

You mean REAL country football people? I'm sure DW could profile some country footy legends at some stage.

MC, you're right, that's where we're heading with these features. REAL country football people.
The more names you chuck at me, the better.
Next week's will be a cracker - a contributor to SA Footy and someone who we can all admire for his tenacity and passion for the game.

Any clues? I would love to see a piece on Murdoch from Karoonda and now coaching Pinnaroo

Love to read it. Guessing its 200KW, the guy who did the country Footy clubs book?

New story up on www.countryfooty.com.au

Peter Lines, a great servant of the game.
Someone who has read the piece told me, "it would bring a tear to a glass eye", a great compliment.

A piece on Troy Witwer would be a great tale!

You love Wittwer!
I'd love to do a story on him, did he spend some time in the Adelaide Plains when Boo Eddy took off that way?

Similar time but Boozer went to Two Wells and Troy to United/

Funnily enough Boozer lived across the road from for about 5 years. Him and my dad were very close and i went out with his step daughter for a year or so.

Boozer did a pre season out at Norwood one year and broke every single running record they had (helped he was an old fashion garbo, spent all day running). He also starred in there internal trials kicking multiple goals on a couple of occasions

He was due to go on a compulsary pre season week end training camp, that day him and his partner had a massive blew and he took off else where, never showed up to the camp and was cut from Norwood once they returned at the end of the weekend.

This week's Football People takes a look back at a cracking interleague contest between the Tatiara Football League and SAFA, two doomed leagues. A thrilling match and I'm sure posters on this site would know many of the players, from both sides, mentioned.

The U/17 game includes two 14 year olds Simon Cox who went on to play AFL footy (as mentioned) and Scott McFarlane who should've gone on to play AFL footy if not for the unfortunate combination of speed, alcohol, country road and a tree.

Both those two players dominated the U/15 country Samboy Cup in July that year.

RIP Scotty, never to be forgotten by those at the Glenelg Footy club who knew you!
