Bar money

Postby Backliner » Sat Jan 07, 2012 10:44 am

After some ideas on using monopoly style money for use at a sporting club. Relates to eftpos facility but not wanting to use the cash out so to limit the float to normal use. Have heard other clubs have differnet methods but please don't mention the clubs, just the 'idea' behind it. We do meals but it is run as a separate identity and eftpos is mainly for the bar. Just after some thoughts. Cheers.

I assume this is because you don't want to have copious amounts of cash in the till?

Why not make those that have no cash on them leave their card behind the bar and create a tab for them. All it needs to be is a laminated bit of paper with a number on it with a business card holder by the till. Take out the number and replace with card and record the total on a bit of paper. When they go to leave just rack up the amount on the Eftpos machine and charge them accordingly

Spot on heater31, don't want too much cash float. Only issue I have is when go to pay declined no credit. We have thought of eg Prepay $30 for tokens or $5 cards is an idea floating atm. That way paid for and use when need. Prepay is my preferred option so as not chasing money from people.

We have drinks cards

Pre pay for 8 stubbies for example and there is 10 spots on the card

You get 2 free drinks and have paid up front, works well

We do too - pay for 5 and sixth is free. it works best when the cards go through the wash before they are finished!

Doesn't really alleviate the problem of too much cash floating around, it helps a bit midweek when people might just use their cards but they have to buy them at some stage. Helps with quicker service with less handling of cash while serving drinks.

eftpos a certain amount, eg $50 and concurrently run a tab for that person. The person knows that they've paid as does the club as it's paid upfront, and they either get the change when the tab is finished or eftpos another amount.
always forgive your enemies...nothing annoys them so much
