REGISTRATIONS STILL OPEN!!!
Welcome to the 2014 AFL9s Winter Season - The Corporate Cup!
My name is Simon Barratt (Bazza) and I, along with Ian Bone, will be your competition manager for this season. You will receive emails from me throughout the season updating you on game times and scores, vote leaders, special events coming up or any other important information that I need to get out to you all. Due to this, could you please ensure you check your emails regularly to keep up to date.
If you are receiving this email it is because you have registered a team or nominated to register a team in our corporate cup competition starting next Monday the 19th May 2014.
Could you all please reply to this email with your contact information, team name and confirmation that you will be available to play this monday. I will need this by the end of Thursday so that I can notify teams of any changes to the fixture. As soon as I have all this information I will send out a draw with your exact time. Games will be played in two time slots. These times are 6:30pm and 7:30pm with two games going at the same time.
Our games will be played at Railways Oval/Park 25. This is located on West Terrace opposite the HQ nightclub or the old Heaven for those who have not been out for a while. You can enter the oval via two locations. If you are heading north on West Terrace towards the new research building, there is a little driveway on the left that takes you down to the oval. This is near the set of lights opposite McDonalds. There is another gate on the left of the bridge between North Terrace and Port Road. The best and most secure option is the first option.
At some stage in the very near future, all teams will need to register via the AFL9s website. An online draw, ladder and results can not be entered until all teams have done this. For some reason we are having some technical difficulties around this. To register your team, you go to
www.afl9s.com.au click on the 'register' tab near the top of the page. A map of Australia will pop up, click on SA. You will then see a list of competitions appear on the right hand side. Our competition will not be listed there. You will need to type in 'Corporate Cup' where you see the postcode of 5000. Select the option that says Association/league name and then click on search. This will bring up our competition. It will also show you a map of where we play. Select 'register your team now', fill in the details and submit. You will then be able to register each of your team members via the sporting pulse website.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any troubles. I am a primary school teacher so I will not be able to answer the phone during class time however if you leave a message I will call you as soon as possible.
AFL9s is a 9-a-side competition. In our competition, we are promoting it as a mixed competition and will therefore play in accordance with mixed rules. This means that females or children under 13 will be awarded 9 points for every goal they score. It also means that teams should also endeavour to field three 9 point players each game. Teams who do not do this will receive a penalty of 9 points per player they are short. For example, a team with 7 males and 2 nine point players will give their opposition team a 9 point head start providing that the opposition team has the correct mix of 9 point players. The reason we are doing this is because we want to continue to promote a mixed competition however we are aware that at times teams cannot get the required mix and shouldn't have to forfeit the game potentially ruining their season. It is after all - The Game for Everyone.
If you have any further questions regarding the season, please do not hesitate to ask. My contact number is 0401 572 927. I also check my emails multiple times during the day.
I hope this email finds you all well and enthusiastic to play AFL9s.
I look forward to meeting you all on Monday night.
Cheers
Bazza and Ian
