I've started getting around watching as many different A grade games in as many different leagues that I can. What rivalries, traditional or recent, exist?

TTG vs Modbury would be up there. Unfortunately we dont play against eachother that often but when we do, normally big crowds and good clean hard games.

PNU v Athelstone is always huge.
And recently PNU v Scotch have also become huge games.

Got the Reynella v Morphett Vale game penned in for next month.
Going to be at Balaklava v United the same day as PNU v Scotch so will look at that one in the finals.

This probably isn't as great a rivalry as United v Mallala or Balaklava v Hummocks.
Unless you are there for the Balaklava premiership reunion? My In laws are coming down for that.

seems everyone's biggest rival is Mallala though so I'm leaving them until the last round when they host Hamley

Not dickheads just the most hated!

The magpies in the league where I grew up won every A grade flag from 1968 to 1982. My club in their first year in the league in 1981 were in front at 3/4 of that year's GF after years of behind hammered in their old league. The coach at the time implored his Magpie charges not to lose to the new kids on the block. They beat us.

Some 20 years later we smacked the next generation of that team (plenty of sons from '81) by over 10 goals in a GF....

Walkerville v St Peter OC has always been a good rivalry.

We have been playing for the Peter Franklin Cup for a few years now - when we're in the same division. Peter had a big connection with both clubs before he passed away. He was a junior coach at Walkerville for a lot of years and coached the B grade at SPOC as well. His last game was a SPOC v Walkerville Grand Final (2009) where he coached SPOC to the flag. Very fitting that his last game was between the two clubs he was heavily involved with and the next season the Cup was named in his honour.

When the two clubs play there is always one thing you can guarantee, it'll be played in torrential rain.

Mallala and hamley is no rivalry unless I've missed the memo :?

Last round of the APFL also features probably one of the most hostile rivalries in the league. Virginia vs Two Wells. Do yourself a favour and go this one especially if the game has a spot in the finals riding on it.
