never said she was the first, but everyone says she is a great premier or was, and never lied or never did anything wrong, but now look!

How does resigning make her a liar?

A FORMER Democrats senator and a Sex Party member are among the candidates vying to become Brisbane's lord mayor in next month's Queensland's local government elections.

Nominations for candidates in the April 28 poll closed at noon today.

Ray Smith is the Labor challenger to Liberal National Party (LNP) Lord Mayor Graham Quirk.

Former Democrats senator Andrew Bartlett will represent the Queensland Greens in his bid for Brisbane's top job.

Mr Bartlett was a Queensland senator between 1997 and 2008.

Greens members will contest 19 of Brisbane's 26 wards.

The Sex Party has put its exclusion from the state election behind it to endorse lord mayoral candidate Rory Killen.

The party was barred from contesting the Queensland election for not having enough registered members.

Mr Killen is running as in independent who is endorsed by the Sex Party.

He is campaigning on a platform that includes reducing noise restrictions to encourage more house parties, and protecting entertainment venues from ``burdensome'' zoning requirements.

Former premier Peter Beattie's wife Heather Beattie will be another candidate to watch when she contests the Central ward for Labor.

In order for it to be a lie, she would have had to know that she would quit if she lost. I don't think she lied, I think she changed her mind when she realised they would have only 7 seats. This way the party can at least bring in someone good to help the party recover because when one party governs without effective opposition, the people invariably lose out in the long run.

everyone saying that things are going to be cut and moeny slashed for funding from the LNP now. Little do people remember, that labor had power for 14 years straight. So if anyone is looking for someone to blame for money being slashed by the LNP, you can contact Anna bligh and her labor party

It is like Greece...
The people kept electing profligate governments who promised them goodies for free, and now they are objecting to the realisation that someone always has to pay for the goodies in the end.
Those who have to clean up the mess get blamed by those who voted for its continuance, some of whom still don't understand that everything costs something..

The 5 cents (!!!) that every Queenslander saves by axing the literary awards should come in really handy.
It's pure vindictiveness end of story.
How much is Peter Costello costing you guys?? Surely that's taxpayer money that could be saved.
