Funny how the stations were very happy to shove up the price overnight on the already purchased fuel in the tanks a couple of weeks ago

As bad as the banks putting up interest rates straight away (on already spent money) but cuts take a couple of weeks to a month

The ACCC are pi$$ weak

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will make the rare move of addressing the nation on TV to outline his government’s response to the Iran conflict and the fuel crisis in Australia.

The address will be broadcast across all TV and radio networks at 7pm AEDT.

Well, that will help with the insomnia. Listening to the Elmer Fudd impersonator slur his way through scripted nonsense would knock even the most hardy people out...

100%, that’s why I posted.

They made an absolute killing by immediately raising the bowser price when they purchased wholesale at the previous low price. The fluctuations to steadily raise the price since has mostly been aligned to global oil pricing rather than the usual markup on their wholesale price.

The govt should have put provisions on capping profits during the 3 month excise reduction period, otherwise these greedy bastards will just quietly absorb it as further profit rather than provide relief to motorists.

Faarking arseholes.

Higher prices = costing me more money to fill up
But paying higher prices a far better than those In an overseas war where petrol is an issue and its costing people their lives

If i have to pay extra in the short term , sobiet
I cant grizzle as yet , but might if petrol prices stay high in the long term

I also spare a thought for anyone involved in the petrol industry if they lose their jobs

State and Territory leaders have formally asked the Federal Govt to further reduce the fuel excise by an amount equivalent to a max of $400M of GST for 3 months, which would reduce fuel prices by another 5.7c a litre.

Effectively they have agreed to forgo these GST receipts in order to fund it.

The Feds now need to approve to make it happen.
