AbortSA

Postby fisho mcspaz » Thu Feb 25, 2010 7:31 pm

I am absolutely disgusted by their website. I didn't twig to what it was initially - saw the poster, thought it was a joke (yeah, let's abort SA, what a s***hole) and then I saw another poster with a foetus and realised it was ANTI-abortion.

'Save the Unborn' is the premise of Trevor Grace and his AbortSA website but from what I've read so far, it's just a slogan masking an ugly, abusive rant directed at women; in particular it mocks their reasons to have an abortion. Of course, God gets dragged into it too - religious fascism at its worst.

Who the hell are these people to tell women what to do with their bodies?
Hey Goose, ya big stud! Take me to bed or lose me for ever.

Have you ever noticed that these people (esp. similar groups in the USA and Happy Clapper (pentecostal) religious groups) are often strident advocates of the death penalty? Which I find inconsistent :?

Exactly. Spot on Mick.
Bush was a supposed ""Pro Life" President and yet State executions doubled during his time as Governor of Texas. "Oh! I see you are actually pro some life." :?

Bill Hicks the late American Stand Up/Social commentator summed it best.....

"You're so pro life link arms around a cemetery."

Not that I support the campaign, but I would not be concerned about the bodies of the women in question, more so the child inside those bodies.
Abortion has its place, but I believe it is used too often as an escape clause for someone's stupidity these days and helps young people shirk responsibility for their actions.
That said, this group are extremists and do take the issue too far.
Right in front of me. RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!

I tend to agree with dedja - single issue candidates are a part of our democratic process and it gives their supporters a legitimate means to try to get their beliefs and aims heard and acted upon.

I remember when I was in the UK some years ago and the Citroen 2CV was axed from production in France and someone set up the "Save the 2CV" party to run in the election. Didn't get many votes but, hey, at least they had a go and got some publicity for their cause. :D
