As a devout and practising Claustrophobe who recently had to drive through the tunnels in Brisbane I'd oppose anything underground. :lol:
The tunnel in the Adelaide Hills are just short enough to be tolerable...
[PS: Melbourne's tunnels leak - more than they admit publicly..]

If the federal suggestion that the train line through the Adelaide Hills be scrapped in favour of the 87 Km longer, but much faster, link via the north of the city gets up, they could be a ready made spot for another OBahn up though Belair, Blackwood etc, perhaps even to the rapidly growing Mt Barker.
Alternatively, short term thinking could see that land cut up into building blocks and sold...
