southee wrote:Fact is Rudd was elected in 2007 .... He got put aside as he was very low in the polls . Alot due to some poor decisions by him. He was proven to be a poor pm. One of the worst.

Gillard comes in to do a job. I don't agree with her policies but she is alot better than the media sucker of Rudd.

The guy has had his time . He failed but seems to be hell bent on ripping his party apart and acting like a spoilt school kid who did not get picked on the footy team.

Spot on summary Southee.

I hate Rudd and Gillard, but the fact is she's been more effective than he was in actually running a government and getting things done (not that I agree with them)...

Rudd reminds me of a moustachioed fellow who was rather popular in Germany in the 1930's... Popluist, egocentric, etc....

This is very amusing for anyone with a memory and someone largely impartial. The Liberal Party have had 4 leaders since 2007. Howard - who was kicked out of office and could not even hold onto his own seat of Benelong and one of only two Prime Ministers who could not even hold onto his own seat, then we had Brendan Nelson in 2007 and 2008, before he was knifed by the pompous and arrogant Malcolm Turnbull from 2008 to 2009, then he was knifed by Abbott in 2009, and one we have had to endure until now. He also, is not without his share of problems and threats of leaderships overthrows. Then we have the Labor Party who also have had 4 leaders since 2007, all with the same disasters as the outcome. We saw the antics of Mark Latham come and go, before he was knifed by Kim Beazley, (for his second coming and tilt at greatness) who in turn was knifed by Kevin Rudd, who in turn was then knifed by Ms Julia Gillard. (a common theme for both parties is obvious to all, except the die hards)

This is a circus and fiasco on both sides and all the die-hards who write here on politics and favour your own little party, or even worse are paid up members of either side, should just please remember that both parties are as dirty and filthy as one another and both sides have factions who will knife you in the back, to keep their jobs. Hey, it looks like we are going to be stuck with Gillard who is incompetent and then we have the equally or more incompetent Tony Abbott, who should just resign and ask Peter Costello to return to give some credibility to the party. Labor need new blood and quickly, with Stephen Smith the only likely candidate who looks like he could take over, without all the crap going on between all the old boys and gals. Get back Costello and bring in Smith, for the sake of the country, as both are the only hope we have at the moment.

interesting hearing Ferguson on Meet the press this morning

he was asked whether Rudd would challenge again, and basically said Rudd wouldnt but someone else will!!!!!!!

Gillard is Goneski at some stage - either by the party or at the next federal election

If Gillard wins tomorrow (which she will - although the general public, clearly prefer Rudd, based on all opinion polls) but the Labor back room boffins won't listen to the people, and we the general public will get someone we largely do not want. (That would be too smart, in listening to public opinion). Abbott, who is also just as incompetent to lead the country, can just sit back and say either nothing, or his customary stock standard answer of NO. Unless someone like a Stephen Smith is brought in and all the old boys and girls kicked out then we will get stuck with Abbott as the new PM. Abbott, might as well ring the removal companies tomorrow to arrange for his goods to be shipped to Kirribilli House in 18 months time should Gillard get put back in and no new blood from the ALP comes in before then. We would then have another PM that nobody wants with Abbott as the slightly more wanted, of two leaders we don't want. This is like a production of Fawlty Towers, with Basil Budgie Smuggler, the likely new PM mid next year. Bring back Costello and in with Smith.

Yardy Lard I agree with many of the sentiments you express but can you give me say, two examples of where Tony Abbott has proved to be incompetent? Like this guy is an actual Rhodes Scholar. He is a genius at economics. He handles his staff well - they love him. He knows how to run a meeting and stick to an agenda. He is the absolute best attack dog either party has had in Federal Parliament for 30 or 40 years and he has single-handedly embarrassed the socialist ruling party into complete oblivion so much so they cannot get any traction in the house or in the media. Abbott might be a budgie smuggling goose but he is competent at his job. He should be running the show and the sooner the better.

Getting rid of the NBN, I would have thought would be financially reckless given the amount being spent on it already.

sigh, the NBN is (will be) an asset that will generate large ongoing revenue ... like Telstra have made squillions from their (nearly obselete) copper fixed line network.

The latest one being where he stated that repealing a tax would net the government money. Say what? The bloke is a nuff nuff, however, is being masterfully managed by Credlin at the moment.

All good points. There is always tensions and turmoils within political parties, it's not news as such, however, generally speaking these parties do well to not air their dirty laundry. Labor's is out for the world to see. Tsk tsk.

I'd forgotten about that little Rudd gem...

What an absolute joke these clowns are.

What a country of dumbarses we are.

Not that I take much notice of polls, but the NewsPoll just released shows Labor's 2-party preferred up, yes up, 2 points to 47% ... WTF.

Sort of sums up how rooted we are. Labor are imploding and Abbott and his clowns are no better.
