If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.

If someone had been using your credit card, logging calls on your home and mobile and other personal information for 5 years then surely you'd have gone to the police. That's the part he's having trouble explaining. I see one strange thing on my credit card statement and I'm calling my bank right away. If the same thing happens again then I'm onto the police.

To believe him, you have to believe it's reasonable for him to have not noticed or cared for so long. To think he's lying, you just have to believe the 1100 page report and the number of people claiming to know he's lying. I'm no fan of making someone's life a misery without them being proven guilty, in fact I think it's crap people get their names and faces plastered all over the news when they appear in court, before being found guilty of anything. Strange that Thompson is so disgusted when he's the "victim" yet I've never heard him advocate for others dragged through the mud without trial. Also, he's more than happy to do the same to people involved with the HSU (such as Kathy Jackson).

Given we all know already he has until the next election before his political career is over anyway (who would preselect or vote for him even if Labor weren't on the nose?), why is he putting himself, his family and his staff through this for another 12-16 months? If he steps down the media attention and parliamentary attention goes away. If he's so close to losing it and he's worried for his family then staying in parliament seems like a terrible option.

Just quietly I think his life would end up much worse than it already is if he stepped down, I doubt he's that stupid.

if all the reports from fwa are fair dinkum, why has it taken so long for anything to happen, including the time it took for fwa to publish its report.

The fwa report has been heavily biased against him.

He will not be charged nor found guilty of anything.

If anything, they've dragged the chain because they never wanted to do it, but were forced to

It is amazing it has got to this stage, those expenses on his card should have been picked up at the time, unbelievable that they could have gone thru unnoticed.

Sometimes these things do take a long time. There's not always full cooperation from the parties involved. Many of whom are strongly Labor leaning and would know full well anything that spells the end of Thompson spells the end of the Labor government.

The FWA report is heavily biased against him according to who exactly? Have you heard anyone other than Thompson claim this? Have you read the report?

He might not get charged, because these aren't necessarily criminal offenses as I understand it. Doesn't mean he acted properly. Just like Clinton didn't act properly carrying on with Lewinsky. Nothing illegal there yet he only survived impeachment because he was massively popular.

Sounds to me like you just believe anything the guy says, no matter what evidence or other parties say otherwise. No doubt you also have a 100% Labor voting record too and always will.
