The Carbon tax is backed by science and today the overwhelming majority of economists backed it and said Abbott's policy was hopeless.

You're totally right, LL, Tony gets no scrutiny at all.

"Simplistic socialists", SP? You've been reading too many Bolt blogs :D

R&B you state "facts" ...where are they??

It makes me laugh, it is obvious Labor are gone but the Labor supporters on this board keep hanging on.

Go out and talk to people in a small business or families and see what reaction you get......this is a disaster of a Tax that has not been thought out. There are many other ways of being "green" other than causing more stress to families already struggling to get a dollar in.

I can tell you now, I am sure I will be shot down for this, but people out there have lost total confidence in this government....they are holding on their money and I (as a small business owner) hear the repeated lines " Im not sure whats going on with the ecomony " or " Might hold off for a while" or " my turnover is terrible... people aint buying".....its alright for the intellectual  Labor supporters on this board to "live in their little bubble" (probably nice little government office job somewhere) but for us small businesses out there I fear the next 12 months!!! I can also tell you ....I aint the only one either!!!

Southee, you say Labor are gone but the Labor supporters keep hanging on here.

Southee, mate, think about what you're saying.

Think about it.

You support South and you're still here ;)

Seriously, though, you also said (I think I'm right?) that there would be no compensation.

BWWAAAAAHHHHH, I think you said?

Was that you?

Well, there is generous compensation.

Abbott & Gillard are both as bad as each other and both should just **** off.....

Can't stand 'em......

Problem is though every other peanut under them are just as bad.

What a shitty state of Australian Politics.

Think about what??? That I speak from the heart?? That I dont use long words like some others on here?? That I am not one of the intellectuals on this forum??

I talk to alot of small to medium sized businesses.......and the general consesus is that this tax stinks the big one.

Next time you walk into a shop or speak to a tradie maybe ask them how they feel about the tax.

I can only have an opinion.

Love my South and always fight strongly for what I believe in so passionately. ;)

No worries mate. Any supporter of any club who can claim Lindsay Backman and Peter Darley as their own will get my support.

Good work, indeed, Southee, except that you fall into the same trap as SP in branding those of us who disagree with you as “intellectuals”, “living in a bubble”, etc.

Oh, and ‘nice little government job somewhere”.

I presume this is to make it clear that we’re not in the real world that you inhabit, of course.

Well, Southee, I’ve been in small business most of my working life and I spend a lot of time helping and advising other small businesses, so I think my view of the state of small business is at least equal to yours. Several of my clients are expanding and I haven’t had one client talk to me about the carbon tax.

I have had several asking me what the new tax rates mean to them, though.

Mate, by all means let us respect each other’s differences, but how about we each try to avoid typecasting our opponents private lives?

You get typecasted, mate

I'm a West supporter. You don't think I cop shit, too :D

No worries about business advice, but you'd have to put up with me telling you to thank a West Adelaide coach for your last premiership.

PS: When I said think about it before, I was only referring to you wondering why a Labor supporter would still hang in here.

I was joking that you're a South supporter and still hang in, so you should understand :D

Nothing to do with your politics.

Why do you keep saying could be, its obvious that he is.

67% of Australians dont think so. What are you saying?

fair enough that 67% prefer the mad monk to the ranga. Whilst i dont have proof, i am fairly confident that a fair portion are voting for the lesser of two evils and still remember many of Abbotts loonier moments. He has had a crazy past.

And with the next election in 2 years being 5 million% in front of the polls now means SFU ... :yawinkle:

boy didn't i miss a lot of banter tonight. I sure do hope whoever used the intellectual line earlier one isn't including me, although i do do very well at quiz nights. Interesting to see the amount of support for Turnbull still about, has some great ideas but for some weird reason his own wealth seems to affect him negatively.

What affects him negatively is that he opposes many of the views held by his party's hard right faction.
